Actually if it is on the inside of the wheel (towards the car) it is the inboard flange and if it is the outside of the wheel (towards the curb) it is the outboard flange.

I was looking at that same image earlier. But the flanges, are what are referred to as "rim", the whole use of rim is completely and totally wrong.

Then explain to me how the fuck the wheel seats on the wheel. Even if it is a wheel that requires a tube, the tire still needs to seat on something on the wheel.
