  • Bmw guys unite!bNose panel rubbing issue

    Hi guys,

I have a 92 Bmw 325i sitting on racelands, 18x8.5 wheels et30 w/ 225/40/18 tires in the front and I'm having an interesting issue and idk if anyone else has ever had this problem. The back edge of the nose panel where it meets the fender is rubbing the outer edge of my tires in the front, The whole problem started after I installed the oem bmw motorsport offset lcab bushings. rolled front fenders out a bit in hopes it would pull the nose panel with it, sorta work but not really.

I know some other bmw guys run some really wide tires with a lot of meat up front so I can't be the only one thats having this issue

A good alignment is also in order so that should help since it appears to be toed out from doing the suspension work

    Anyways all is much appreciated

P.S. I know racelands damping and spring rates run on the soft side so I have a sneaking suspicion that they may be part of my problem

Run smaller and maybe lower tires on the front wheels

I don't think the tire size is the problem - it's about the same diameter as the stock 225/45/17s after all and those don't rub there, even on lowered cars.

My guess would be that your front end parts are not aligned properly. The nose panel might be sitting a bit too far back - maybe it is an after market piece, they tend to fit like crap.

Combined with the excentric LCA Bushings, I could see this problem as a result. The excentric LCA bushings do move the front wheels forward a slight bit, so this might be the issue here.

Yea I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't aligned right, The previous owner had a slight run in with a deer on the rh side, the fender is a bit jacked but I've done my best to bang everything back into shape, I also have new fenders for both sides and a rad support waiting to go on, might try and search out an updated nose panel at a junkyard also.

Id be more inclined to think this is happening because of the deer but the LH side is damage free, headlights and everything line up fine and it rubs on that side too.

I would be installing the new pieces as we speak but I'm running our local hill climb in August so Im waiting till after that just in case I crunch something up.....no plans to though

increased positive caster with after market lollipops? would cause the tire to rub the front of the inner fenders

              Problem?

How I solved it without changing the offset LCAB's.

This will get you a few mm's, but still was more than enough for me to get clearance on this 97 M3 4/5

Bringing this back...my issues not at the bottom of the bumper, its actually up at the metal nose panel....however since Ive posted this Ive got a proper alignment, need to get my street wheels back on and see if it fixed the issues
