paint my car with 2K paint and clear?

Hi!

i will soon paint my car at the garage. i will paint it white with a cheap 2K paint that is made for boats. I know whaat you think about that.. it´s a budget build

well i want it shiny like a car paint. can i sand it down and paint the 2k, and then use clear coat? how will that look?

anyway. italked to a few guys that used the same paint. they say that the result of just the paint (2 layers) and then just a little bit of sanding with 2000 and then polish it looks just like normal, glossy paint with clear

One/Single-Stage: Used to describe a coating that does not require a clear top coat. A single-stage coating may or may not require a catalyst, hardener or activator. Plus, a clear top coat may be added in many cases for enhanced durability or depth.

Two-Stage: Describes a coating system that requires both base and clear coats. This is more commonly referred to as "basecoat/clearcoat" or "BC/CC". The coats of base and clear may or may not require a catalyst, hardener or activator


so according to that 2k paint is not single coat paint, it would require a hardener and clear coat?

yeah 2K needs to be mixed with thinner to work it don´t need clear though

2K paint just needs to be mixed with an activator. There are plenty of 2K paints that are single-stage (don't need a clear coat).

That said, spraying a clear coat isn't any harder than laying down paint. Plus clear is super cheap compared to the actual paint.

The procedure you have described here ,I have also paint my car in the same way and now my car just shines ,If you have also paint your car in the same way then just tell what's the outcome of your car paint?.Does you got your car in the same way as you wanted?.

Sure, if you have lots of expirence paiting with both, or if you dont care that it looks like dookie. If this is your first time painting a car or something of that size with clear, you should practice alot first. Its not as easy as it seems to get a good clean even non orange peeled look. I think anyone can do it, it just takes practice.

Been paiting since I was 15 taught myself in my own garage. The first 4-5 jobs i did with clear were bad. Needed alot of work and sanding/buffing.

this is how it turned out it still needs a wash.. i will repaint some stuff and i will sand it down and buff it. i think it will be nice!

total cost of the paint was about 100$.. :P it still need a repaint on some spots cause i had to customise some stuff after painting like rear fenders and all that..

then i will sand it down and polish it up. this is by just painting and washing so i think will look alot better after some morte work
