Yes it was the e32 that was the only model supplied with the 10" Rear. The lip on the 9.5" fortunately has the same dish as supplied on the e34 B10 Alpina's. There are a few guys in the UK that I know of who have fitted e32 rear trailing arms to their e34's to accommodate the 10" rears, the only sure way of getting them on safely...
For the sake of the odd mm or two any 17" Alpina Classic 8.5j, 9.5j & 10.0j will fit your e32 comfortably and look well.
As you have mentioned, Alpina prices are crazy high but second hand parts are now becoming scarce and more sought after.
Thanks for the link to your e32 project, the car is a credit to you and I'm sure will be an even more stunning example as your progress with the maintenance and restorative work continues. I'm doing a similar undertaking on my e34 525i Wagon and hope to have her ready early next year.
