Unfortunately he didn't keep records, but I know the shop that did all the work, I'll see what they would charge me to re-print all the receipts.
The suspension on these is very simple, it's independent at each corner. Since they use linear spring rated springs, I opted to cut the stock springs since the ride doesn't suffer like it would with progressive springs. I did install new bilstein shocks along with it, which gives it a slightly firmer than stock ride. With multiple people in the car it scrapes on the exhaust fairly often, but with one person in the car it doesn't scrape on anything but the largest bumps. Speed bumps are to be avoided. I think I mentioned it, but I'll have a new set of springs installed at no cost cut to whatever length you would want (or at the stock height) unless you're interested in exactly how it sits today.
I'm selling because my wife and I carpooled to work and back every day for the past 3 years, but she recently took a new job so that's no longer possible. This car deserves better than to be a daily driver, and it is totally unsuitable as a daily where I live. It regularly approaches 100 degrees in the summer and the humidity is constantly over 85%. That plus the gas mileage and it just doesn't work for me.
It's really going to kill me to sell this car, it's been by far my favorite of all the cars I've owned. I may get another one down the road when I have more space. To say it turns heads is a huge understatement. I get compliments literally every time I drive it from all manner of people.

Such a cool, clean, unique car. I've had a few opportunities to ride around in this car, and it has such a solid and smooth feel to it. Compared to so many modified cars this one is extremely well thought out and taken care of. Good luck with the sale, Jason!

Here's your chance to own the very best an R107 can offer. I've taken the best available stock R107, the 560SL (which has the most power, the most convenience and has an upgraded subframe) and installed a set of early american / euro bumpers on it. The paint color is stock and very unique / uncommon. The condition will make you think it came fresh out of the factory.
1986 560SL
Mileage: 88k
Petrol Green / Blue
Palomino Interior
5.6 Liter V8 - 230hp
Condition:
Exterior - 9/10
- Repainted roughly 3 years ago and I've taken very good care of the paint. It was a respray of the stock color and there is virtually no overspray. It was a very professional job. There are 2 rock chips on the hood, a light scratch on the trunk and the paint has chipped on the inside of the front passenger side wheel well from a botched fender roll.
Interior - 7/10 -
- Carpet is in good condition but faded.
- Seats are also in good condition, minor wear on the drivers side bolster.
- Radio is aftermarket (early '90s I'd say) but works.
- Dash is brand new with no cracks or wear (very hard to find)
- Wood veneer has faded and cracked.
- A/C is non-functioning. Heat works fine.
- Rear parcel shelf is basically rotted out.
- Some rust under the parcel shelf. Not all the way through yet (I'll repair this prior to selling).
Recent Maintenance work:
- Timing chain and all associated bits done less than 300 miles ago
- New blower motor installed
- New bilstein shocks approximately 1,500 miles ago
- New spring coils replaced 15 miles ago
- Oil replaced 1,000 miles ago
- Front brake pads replaced 3,000 miles ago
- Odometer gears replaced. Actual mileage is approximately 700 miles higher than it shows. It stopped working on me right before we had to take it to Outer Banks for a weekend.
- The engine had multiple components repaired before I bought it. I know for sure the alternator has been replaced but I don't have records to show what else was done.
I wouldn't hesitate to drive this car anywhere. It has had all major maintenance that it will need for another 70-80,000 miles and these cars are built like tanks. I wouldn't be surprised to see it go well over 200,000 miles on this engine.
It's been a wonderful car to me but now that I would have to use it as a daily driver it deserves a better home. Garage kept since I've had it. Turns heads everywhere it goes.
Pricing:
$11,500

I'll take closeups and interior shots this weekend, just need to clean it up a bit. I'd be happy to assist in shipping the car or helping in delivering it anywhere within a reasonable radius. Located in Murrells Inlet, SC. I've taken this car all the way to Ocean City and have never had any issues whatsoever with it.
