this from someone driving a "stanced" linclon ? LOL
another avanue im lookin at is a "hybrid" set up. takin springs from 2 other car makers and useing them to get the stance i want. say bmw rear coils and scion tc fronts.
Ok here im going to play. and help you. #1. For rear springs and Coils Try the Cobalts. Even though your an L-Body it might work. I was going to try them on my 2nd gen Z24. but scrapped the car. For fronts use Eclipse struts and coils,. they'll need some modifications though. If you want more info let me know. im a 60degree GM car Nut. Jbody, Lbody. Nbody. Wbody. you name it i can help.

i know alot of street rodders and guys with lowriders that cut their springs. alot of lowrider guys cut springs . street rodders have dont it ever since the birth of the kulture, lowriding is no different, its how they got low back in the 30's .
i REALLY want to do it right. im gonna hve to run chain in the rear like a lowrider, if i do springs from a different car.
YEs i'll admit. My springs are Cut. but only because of these reasons
Lowriders Do not use Coils from Cars. We use Coils from Train cars lol
And if we use coils from cars. Thier stock Non progressive springs.
A full stack of my coils are about 15" high. I cut them in half. Fronts are rated at 9000lb spring rate and the rears at 5000l roughly. lol
lowrideing started in the early 30's . look it up . everything you see with lowered cars and the mods you do were started by lowrider guys back in the 30's.
Dude, You dont know what you are talking about and all you are doing is creating more arguments.
"Lowriding" did not start in the '30s. Hot rodding did. '50s is around the period where lowriding started as has been previously said.
As for your strut bolts not being available, take one to a bolt specific shop that deals with, you guessed it, bolts. They will be able to give you brand spankin' new ones.
There is nothing wrong with using springs from other vehicles, aslong as you know what you are doing and get them to locate on the perches properly. Though to be honest, from your posts in the last two pages, I suggest you seek some advice from someone who knows more then you.

Congratulations, So since you would be in your late '30s/early 40's, You should be able to wisen up and stop running your mouth about topics that have nothing to do with cutting springs.
This thread is a discussion about cutting springs, not its origin, lets keep it on topic, otherwise Ill close the thread.

cobalt rears are too tall for the beretta. as are the jbody . eclipse struts wont do cuz of how the arm is on the beretta for the tie rods. im gettin to know a fair bit about the L body and the 60 degree v6 , since joining 2 beretta sites and the 60 degree v6 site. Nbody spindels and knuckels will fit my car as other beretta owners have done it as well as the rear disc brake off a dodge neon will work, and the chrysler lebraron rear discs. the disc swap iknew already cuz of owning my 03 Cavalier.
im sure i said this. Mini Cooper springs are pretty close to my stock springs just shorter cuz if it being a smaller car . i found a set for 50 bucks on CL so im gonna get them and try it

You mod the eclipses strut and add the tie rod arm. Trust me i know this. Also tha cobalts are not Jbodys but are the same height spring.

i know the cobalt and cavi arent the same, the cobalt is the delta chassis. thers just one flaw to the strut mod, the l body strut arms are cast iron or cast steel. so welding is the issue. as i said i have mini cooper coils coming so im gonna try them. my buddy told me there is a wright up on the Quad4 fourm of how to make coilovers.
i maybe be new to the L body car but the J body i know very well with havin my cavalier (i wanna cry everytime i say that name).
Dont worry i plan on keeping the car ive gone this far with taking it from a bone stock 91 GT to fully converting it to look like a 94-96 Z26 inside and out
