Alright so I posted on another forum that I had removed the lowest collar on my coilovers to allow me to go lower. A few members there informed me that now my struts would blow sooner than later due to decresed piston travel. After making a thread of course I got all the "holy hell thats to low" "why do you need to go that low" "your car is unsafe" and all that shit. Now in my thinking, I have only moved the whole assembly lower into the bottom mount, thus no piston travel would be lost. The spring pre-load is still the same, the length of the spring is the same, and it is still in the same position on the strut as it was before. The only thing that has changed is the overall length of the entire assembly. Am I wrong? I can see losing travel if the height wasnt adjusted seperately from the spring pre-load as on most cheaper coilovers. But on mine ride height and spring pre-load are independent.

can you extend your strut top hats more? that will help you prevent your struts from bottoming out internally.
I can speak from experience that maxing out coilovers (no matter with or without one of the perch rings) will blow your struts fast either way if the top hats are stock.
ground control makes extended top hats, or if your handy with a welder just extend your stock ones.
hope i was of some help for you in your quest to go lower!
****EDIT*** sorry i miss read your initial post, i was speaking from experience of using shorter springs and having issues but it sounds like you've actually adjust the system as a whole. If possible could i see pictures of your suspension setup? just curious
thanks

Holy people that don't know what they're talking about.
As you figured out, there is no difference in travel. If you had lowered the springs more rather then lowered the body you would have less travel, but you didn't.
Keep on keepin on, man

I do agree that extended top might not be a bad addition though. I used a set on my old cb and even on the ground the ride was good, is was to the point where the shock would have been bottomed out without it. I was using 450lb springs front and rear

haha yeah, they went nuts over that shit. Saying it was unsafe and I'd lose travel. I think they finally understood what I was trying to say. Does someone make extended top hats for the accord? or were they custom made?
I wish I could trade my heart for an extra liver, just so I can drink more and care less.

Ingalls front ball joint kit
and eibach rear arms
Still need to get some rear toe arms. The stock stuff doesn't adjust enough since I'm running so much rear camber.Last edited by LethalEthan; 12-16-2012, 04:42 PM.
