  • Leaky valves?

I've had my bags installed for a couple months now. I have the airlift universal air struts with manual paddle valves. Recently when I air out, an oily type liquid is coming out of only one of my valves. so i jacked the car up, and pulled the line out of the bag and a little bit of that liquid came out of the bag. Now i know ive heard that condensation can build up in your tank and stuff, but why would it only be coming out of that one valve?

That is... a very good question. Which valve is it and how is the line routed?

It's coming from the valve that runs to the drivers side rear bag. It's routed through my dash, under the carpet, into the trunk, then into the bag. There are a couple of couplers in between.

Anybody have any ideas on what this could be?

Probably you found more water in that corner because it is one more acessed/filled due a leakage in that specific bag.

but the thing is is that it feels oily, not just like water. and there isn't a leak in that bag. it holds air just fine. i suppose i will call airlift.

Air Lift Universals are fed from the bottom, aren't they? I'd be popping that leader hose off and seeing if anything drains out of the bag. Just like the tank, condensation can build up inside a bag, and it's possible you're getting a mix of condensation and some kind of residue leftover from manufacturing.

I'm assuming that when you drain your tank, you're not getting that same kind of oily liquid?

correct. i am not getting anything from the tank. i did pull the hose off the bottom of the bag and a little bit came out. not like pouring out, but like some dripping out. since then i have driven the car around and aired it up and down a few times and it still leaks.

Inside the bag, just in the bottom, there is an o-ring that is lubricated with red grease.
At the same level of the feed tap. Maybe the fluid you got is a mix of water and that grease.

is there a way to take it apart to figure it out? or a way to get it to stop coming out of the valves?

i mean im hoping its something like that. im worried that the strut is leaking oil. but the thing is that they barely have 1000 miles on them. and i dont beat up my car at all so i dont think its that, but i mean is that a possibility?
