  • E30 BC bag over coil issues

    Hello,

I'm really new for all this bagging so please be kind to me I recently bought Autopilot v2 management with dual 444 viairs and 2 air houses for the rear and 2 aerosports for the front.

Im trying to fit them into my e30 Touring!

I am having some issues with my coilovers and aerosport bags, i'd really appreciate if you could help me out a little bit. The issue is that the bag rubs my wheels pretty bad and it doesnt even go low enough yet.
I test fitted the coils after i assembled them and jacked my wheel up so i saw the rubbing. I am just wondering did i assemble them correct because the upper mount seems a little weird for me..

If i could attach the airbag into bc strut's upper mounting plate it would make things easier and i think wouldnt have wheel clearance issues anymore. This guy has done like that to his bc racings http://www.lxforums.com/board/showth...h-UAS-Air-Bags

Any suggestions what should i do to the upper mount? Should i get different upper plates to the coils and try to attach the bag into it or? I don't even know if i need the camber adjustment.. What should i do?

Here is a picture of my top plate and the spring plate between the bag and the bracket to the bag.. It looks weird and the bag could be alot more up so my wheels wouldnt hit the bag, am i correct?

    Assembled

    Rubbing

I already have 15mm spacer there, my front wheels are schmidt th-lines 8,5" with 195/40/16 tyres. Any ideas what should i try to do? Modify the upperplate somehow or buy a new one from somewhere or what

E30 where i'm putting the bags in, this picture was taken last summer while i drove it static

    Thanks in advance!

Camber adjustment isn't going to change that clearance on MacPherson suspension.

You cannot attach the bag to the upper plate, because the strut swivels as you steer. Hence why there's a bearing in there.

Is there any reason you can't run up the lower adjuster another half inch or so until the bag clears, or is it just a matter of not getting enough drop as-is?

EDIT: It does seem like a lot of room is getting eaten up by the upper bag mounting plate / spring mount contraption at top.

Hmm, yeah.. I cannot circle the lower adjuster anymore on the strut, if i would then i wouldnt get enough drop at the front

Yeah that upper bag mounting plate / spring mount is eating alot room up there, I know that i cannot attach the bag to that upper plate, but what if i would buy different upper plate where it would be possible? or is it that even going to work

I don't think there will be a different upper plate you can use, but there might be a different upper spring mount you could come up with that won't take up so much vertical room. It's hard to say without having it in my hands.

It is interesting to note that Bag Riders's E30 kits use a different front bag than the standard Air Lift builders' kits, presumably for tire clearance reasons.

Alright, thanks for all the help! I have to try to find another upper spring mount or create a flat one

But also yeah that is true, very weird. Bag Riders has pretty flat looking upper camber plates in their front struts, could they fit into my BCs? they seem to be different than mine, atleast in pictures.

I wonder if they sell those separately
