  • BBS LM refinish

I'm far enough along with my wheel project to start sharing some pics of the used BBS LMs I bought. They needed the paint & PC stripped along with all the dings dug out and smoothed. I decided to go all out and make these wheels epic and they should be done within a couple of weeks.

The centers are at the machine shop getting ready for the reverse mount and I should be ready with the barrels and new hardware ready to stretch some rubber on!

Great work! What's the final color for the centers going to be?

Good work! Seems like you have everything you need to refinish a bunch of wheels. Love those durablock pads.

Thanks! I am gonna keep it a secret until about a month from now and the car makes her debut at it's first show: WaterWerks. I will be posting some hawt wheel porn shots once they are done though. It's gonna be epic!

After the first 20hrs of sanding I questioned my sanity, but now it's starting to feel pretty dam good, thanks for the kind words they help fuel my desire to work towards the shine!

This is my first set of wheels that I would risk my life for and when I found the "taco block" it was like being born again on a mission from god to sand! It worked so well and I wouldn't have been able to work out all the machine marks in the barrel around the mounting surface or been able to de-booger the weld repairs on the lips w/o it! My wheels look better then new and I am super happy I took the time to get these things gleamy!

You weren't the only one... when I was showing people the classie ad I was buying them from, the topic of 2 or 3 piece was debated many times ending with the almighty google search.

Might as well show off the car:

Got the centers back from the machine shop and the mounting surface for the faces are zeroed out now. A little before and after shot:

The task of sanding and polishing the barrels was a project I greatly underestimated, but is very satisfying now that I can see the end and can move on to the final stages of getting the wheels painted and fitted to the car. I am on the 2nd stage of compound in the pictures below:

Wow. Doing the inside of the barrels is definitely ambitious. These should be pretty insane once they're done though, props.

^^^Thanks for the kind words guys! I won't be able to work on the wheels for the final polish until this weekend and the centers can't be painted until my arches are built. It might be at least a couple of weeks until they are completely ready to roll.

Polished barrels are SERIOUS. Good work!!! Subscribed... keep us updated with more pics! I just did a similar rebuild to a set of RSs, no polished barrels though
