I was running -2.8 on falken 512s and that only lasted about 6 months before i had to throw the tires away. It just seems like your tire pressure was too low and took apart the tire from the inside. You will notice when you take the tires off if there are a lot of small pieces of rubber inside the tire.

Air pressure. It's hard to tell if a low profile tire is low on air by just looking at it. It is nearly impossible to tell if a low profile, stretched tire is low on air by just looking at it. I have 205/40 on 8.5'' and 215/40 on 9.5'' and visually, I can't tell the difference between 10psi and 40psi.

how do you guys keep your air pressure up on stretched tires? I'm on 215/40 on 18x9s (Falken 452). it takes greater air pressure to inflate the tire / add pressure. the compressors at 95% of gas stations i go to dont push enough air when my pressure drops to 30-35 (I usually run 40-45), so I have to go to a tire shop. i actually end up losing air pressure when I try to fill up at most gas stations. those same gas station compressors work good to fill my wife's stock 205/55/16 Mazda3 tires (on stock wheels). a friend suggested I buy a 90-100lb compressor from harbor freight

I'm afraid my pressure will drop and kill my tire.

i had this exact thing happen a few months ago 205/40 fuzion on a 17x8 wheel. found a hole in the tire when i looked closer. my gash was about 6" long. i had only had the tires for about 2 months.

Never heard of this happening before. I use either regular gas station pumps or fill off of my tank in my car and have never had any issues with my 225/40s on 10s and have never heard of anyone else having an issue like this before

yea me neither, i fill up at gas stations and never have a problem. Perhaps its the valve on the wheel? I know the gas stations aren't as powerful as the compressor in a shop so maybe the valve is providing too much resistance for a gas station compressor.

Air pressure is air pressure, weather its on a regular tire or a stretched tire.

Yeah I got a set of federal ss595's mounted yesterday and new valve stems put in. Car feels great now except for the fact that I'm pretty sure I have a bad rear wheel bearing.
