  • E90/CCW Tire help

Last summer, I picked up a set of CCW D15's that came with some stretched brand-X tires. Here's a side shot the day I mounted them, and a few others from the day I had picked them up:

Not wanting to spend more money at the time on new tires, I drove with them, as is, for a few months and just recently swapped over to my winter setup (MAsshole, here).

Now that the CCW's are off my car, I'd like to ditch the current tires and go with some proper fitting rubber. Here's where you all come into play.

    CCW specs:
    front - 18x9.5 et20 (current tire 215/35)
    rear - 18x10 et25 (current tire 215/40)

I have a Pre-LCi 335i, lowered on BC coilovers. I have a beater truck that I drive often, but would still consider my E90 a "daily driver". I've done a ton of searching/research on this very topic, but have yet to find any concrete information.

Keep in mind that I'm willing to roll my fenders (and probably will have to, with the aggressive front fitment), and during the summer months, I'm not at the lowest ride height. I probably have another 1-1.5 inches to go down on my coilovers.

Lastly, I can adjust front camber with the BC coilovers, which should help.

But to avoid as much rubbing as possible, what tire sizes should I look at switching to? With my 162's, I was running 225/40/18 front and 255/35/18 rear and had no issues. But with the more aggressive offsets and widths of the CCWs, I know that won't work.

So let's hear it. What are the optimal tire sizes I should look for? Thanks in advance!

tyrestretch.com will help you find what you want and it's gotten pretty good even narrowing it down to specific tire brands. Even switching tire brand with the same size would probably help you out, those look like they're federals which tend to run very small.

Are you looking for no stretch at all, or would you still like a little?

I've seen that site and poked around on it a bit, but was overwhelmed, at first. I'll have to take another look. Thanks, man!

And yes, good eye, the rears are indeed Federals. The fronts are Neo Gen's.

Good question. I'm OK with a subtle, tasteful stretch, if that's what it'll take for minimizing (or hopefully, avoiding) any rubbing in the front. But nothing this drastic.

              I'll try to help out...

              Atm you're running 215/35 and 215/40 on 18x9.5 and 18x10

              Standart are 225/35 and 255/30 on 18x8 and 18x9...

Imo you should keep the 225/35 for the front and maybe a
245/30 for the rear to clear the fender...

Stretch depands alot on brand and model.., you may get some trashed tires to check out
              strech and fitment...

On 18s you have the profile wrong. Standard dimensions are 225/40 and 255/35.
19s on the other hand use 225/35 and 255/30.

I used to have style 95 wheels on my pre-lci E91. They are 9x19" et24 and 10x19" et24 with 225/35 and 255/30 Falken FK453 (they run a little wide). No rubbing after the rear fenders were rolled. Barely rubbed before rolling.

My suggestion is 255/35 for the rears and 225/40 or 235/35 for the fronts. The last one is not a very common size tho. Just be aware that 225/40 will have a much larger sidewall than your existing 215/35, so 225/35 might be better if you want to go lower than in the picture. If you choose a tire brand which doesn't run very wide I think you will be satisfied. Hankook for example.

Some great information here, thank you, fellas! Unlike another forum where I posed the same question, and all I heard back were responses that were essentially the equivalent of "you can't do it". That isn't helpful.

What you guys are providing here, is! So thank you. I'll do a bit more research before I decide on what direction to go, but I'm determined to make this work.

That's what we have the forums for

I just want to point out that if you want to go very low, you might rub where the front fenders meet the bumper with 225/40. In that case a 225/35 would be better. But with the smaller circumference you'll get more wheel gap if you don't go "low enough".

You're right, but not all forums are created equally. Other forums shit all over "stance", so you have to be very careful about what types of questions you ask. I'm glad I came to the right place. You guys rock!

I don't plan on being super low, as this is my daily and what I pick my 4month old son up from daycare in! Sounds like 225/40 might be my best bet for the fronts.

Consensus on the rears?? Sounds like either 255/35 or 245/30 are my best bets.

Yeah, lots of people saying "it won't work" just because it isn't stock dimensions or sizes.

                        I would go with 225/40 and 245/35.

Absolutely! Tires came in 2 weeks ago...we're in the midst of packing up the whole house and scheduled to move this coming weekend to our new house. So once all that craziness dies down, I'll have the new tires mounted and will swap out my winter wheels and see how the fitment is.

I'll most definitely be taking photos and providing an update, one way or the other. Hopefully, it's one with good news!
