Separating 3 Piece welded wheels (speed star)

I have a set of SSR GP-theta (GP-0) that i'm rebuilding, i want to separate them but they are welded together, (i need to re paint the faces) and separating them would make it easier to polish the lips.
I was wondering if anyone has ever separated 3 piece welded wheels and what the process is, and possibly if i could do it myself,

Inb4 "threatening structural integrity"
inb4 "you don't need to separate" (the face is sandwiched inbetween the lip and barrel, and the lip and barrel are welded together)

ANY information on such a thing would be greatly appreciated

No easy DIY(uless you're a machinist) way to split these. You'll have to take it to a competent machine shop that can cut these apart. If it is even possible without losing too much material.

Those sound like 2-piece wheels to me?

It looks like a 2 piece wheel with the face and barrel being one piece, and the lip bolted/welded on. In your last picture it looks like that weld could be cut on a lathe to separate the lip. Definitely not a DIY job.

don't bother cutting that.. that is most certainly a welded 2 piece wheel. the only piece not originally part of the equation was the outer lip which was welded on. likely the rear half (face and barrel) is one cast piece..

any shop can tape off the face and mirror polish that lip without issue

i'm not worried about polishing the lip, i want the faces sandblasted and powdercoated, the finish is shit and the paint is bubbling off

okay, i found a nice shop that said that they will do it, not going to be cheap but they can do it. $280 just to cut the welds. T_T

You can still have a shop powdercoat the faces without having to remove them. They will just mask it off. There's sand blast tape as well that they could put over anything that is not getting blasted. After they powder coat and cure them you would just tape off the face and polish the lips. A lot cheaper than cutting welds and possibly destroying the wheels.
