  • reverse mounting wheels

currently have a set of 2 piece wheels and im looking at having more dish and having it sit a lot more aggressive.

They are currently 18x9 + 37 and from the mounting point of the face till the end of the rims is 3.5 inch (outer) and 5.5 inch (inner)

Was thinking off mounting the face the opposite way so now id have 5.5 inch on the outer side and 3.5 inch on the inner side.

Would there be any issues of having a rim with 3.5 inches inner barrel while outer is 5.5inches?

Also calculating the offset i have -15 as the new one as currently the offset is 37mm from centre (4.5 inches). With the current face bolted on 26mm from the centre (assuming 1 inch = 26mm) the hub meets the wheel 11mm positive of where its bolted to the barrell. With reverse as the face is being bolted 26mm negative of centre, with the 11mm positive of where the hub i get 15mm. would be easier to explain with a diagram - also i could be completely wrong so feel free to correct me.

    Thanks

I did a quick calculation your offset seems to be kinda right, I got something like -13, but it is half way to 2am over here and my brain might be fried

another issue is weather the center has enough seating area for the barrel and lip to be moved.

on the wheel center, there is a seat for the lip and barrel. some centers have this notch on the front and rear for sandwich mount, some have one deeper notch for bolth lip and barrel to mount into. either on the front side or back side of the face.

the thing is, the lip and barrel need that notch to seat on and bear the weight of the rim. it's not the bolts that take the weight. they just clamp it together. if the center bore of the lip or barrel weren't supported the bolts would start to bend I would guess.

if your having parts machined, well you can do most anything...
