not shocking. ive compared the product they buy and resell to many others, and its far thinner in comparison. the upsized bubble parts are even worse being about 1/2 of the thickness when compared to many of the competition. They remind me of the bbs race parts that are only meant for track use

I'm surprised it took this long to figure out how poor the quality is on the Rotaform parts, especially the up-size lips/barrels. I doubt anyone who has actually had dealings with them or their products would ever use them again. It's been disappointing seeing friends spend good money on wheel parts, wait months past the promised date, and receive the wrong order numerous times, only to finally receive paper-thin wheel parts that aren't usable on the street. Then when they crack and break apart from normal use (see above), the response is "sorry, but our products are for race-use only." Rotaform is excellent at marketing their cast China wheels, but I've yet to see them acknowledge in an ad that their multi-piece stuff can't withstand normal street use.

This shouldn't be happening with brand new barrels..... When I ordered them I asked specifically "What happens if the crack", to which the rotiform employee said "They wont" ........

This, to me, is very telling. A LOT of people have been having to buy replacement parts, so it's undeniable that Rotiform knows, from many many failures, that they have a problem with wheel quality yet chooses not to improve the product or inform customers.

Your problem started the day you bought these from rotiform

Not to defend Rotiform, but I'm almost positive they don't make barrels in house. It's all sourced from a lip/barrel roller (same places that most wheel companies use). Not many people do that kind of work, and places like Rotiform, Memoryfab, HRE, etc etc source their lips from these places. They do vary in degrees of quality, however. I have never ran on a remanufactured barrel before though, only OE BBS stuff. I've used remanufactured lips for the past few years and had no problems though.

Agreed 100%, just wanted to clear that up though because while you're unhappy with Rotiform, they're unhappy with whoever sourced the barrel (I would assume!)

I get my lips (usually) from this place, and they have barrels too. Here's what they have in 16". Granted they are in Germany and shipping takes a couple weeks (at least, depends on customs) but I've been happy with everything thus far.

There are multiple rim halve manufacturers out there and they went with the cheapest because he is a good friend of both of theirs. Which is why Ive seen more of these posts pop up and Rotiform pulls whatever strings they can to get them taken down.

But this is why I import all my parts from Germany takes a little longer for me to get my rim halves but Ive never had this happen in 6 years of buying parts from them so I would say the wait is worth it

Which is why Ive seen more of these posts pop up and Rotiform pulls whatever strings they can to get them taken down.

While we don't machine wheels in our building (yet) we do have machinists on our payroll. We also do all of our own assembly as well as source and purchase our own forgings/rim halves/materials.

These rim parts are far from the "cheapest" - in fact they are the most expensive of all of our suppliers for these types of items.

We don't pull any strings to get anything taken down. I this case someone notified me of a customer having a problem - I reached out to him through two different media outlets on a Sunday evening and again on this forum before I returned to the office early Monday morning. I talked to him first thing when I got in and we are over-nighting him a replacement part to be delivered tomorrow. The entire issue was handled in under 24 hours.

Shit happens, parts sometimes break. We try to resolve any issues as quickly and as amicably as possible.

That is the benefit of using USA made parts (other than supporting our local economy). When we do have an issue we can usually act quickly. Sean's was the only other one we have seen break like that. As soon as we get the part back we will inspect it for possible defects.

There has never been an issue with strength of our wheels, we have a failure rate of less than .005% on our wheels. In regards to testing, in the last year we have increased the thickness of material used in these "race parts" as well as changing the heat treatment process. We have found this to virtually eliminate any issues with the parts. Potholes though... we haven't found a way to fix those

These particular parts were originally intended for racing vehicles, which is a tough environment. We have found however that stanced/cambered/stretched + the hazards of our city streets has proven to be grueling as well!
