And I have nothing but praise for Falkens, the 512's were one of my favorite tires.
I have a wholesale account at Discount, although I did shop other places because I don't mind paying for the right tire, but still came up empty IIRC.
This is what you get with the Falken 453 on a 17x8...to which I say, meh. I wasn't looking for "stretch cred" exactly. Just more fender clearance. If I get that, I will be satisfied. BTW, these things have one hell of a rim protector on them.
Personally, I think the "stretcy" tires were being made to make tires less costly for the manufacturer by using less materials and passing off undersized tires as proper stock fitment. I believe a large failure rate followed, partly due to the stance scene, but mostly due to the poor design in general. This made the tires more costly in the long run. I think we are seeing a trend "back to stock". Those are just observations from a car guy that doesn't consider himself a part of the stance scene.
