Thanks! The fenders are definitely rolled. I need to take care of a pretty bad uneven spot on the right rear, in fact. I need to get the other tires on before I put the 20mm spacers on. The 15s are OK, but a 20 is better. Long term, I think I'll be running a 25mm in the back with 215/45s. That will leave me at +1 in the rear.

Definitely modify the trailing arms. I'm kicking myself for not doing it.

No worries on the suspension trial and error; I'm being stubborn and trying to fit a bit more tire than I should in there, haha!

Oh you saw that stupid thread? Dude's got schizophrenia or something - he was talking massive amounts of shit, then apologizing to me. Whatever, I like my "ricey" car. Haha.

Dude, the BBS spoiler will work with Euro bumpers. DO IT!

it looks good. Have you even rolled the fenders at all?? From what I can see, the rears sit very close to being flush..20mm should put you in a very nice position! I can't wait to see what the new look will be like.

Im wondering when I take my subframe out should i go through the hassle of making the rear control arms adjustable to give me a better chance at aligning the car when it goes to the floor..

I would be out there tryin to do different things with the suspension in the car instead of letting you figure it out, but with the shift in priorites (benz is tryin to put us on a 7-6 work week..NOT good) and me being occupied with fixing the gauge cluster, gettin my new dash from wkohler, and getting my hands on the B35, I left wheels and suspension til the late spring time hehe...

nice rant on with the newbie and his Natsumi JDM whatever-the-heck-it-was ricer muffler on mye28...Im considering the Ireland Engineering exhaust for mine, but as the saying goes, one step at a time...

I would love to do the euro conversion on mine, but since I have the hard-to-find BBS lower valence i've decided to keep the diving boards..

Not the best pictures, but you get the idea. For some reason the passenger's side likes to camber in more than the driver's, so these shots don't show how flush it should be at this height. If I'm right, I should be able to throw the 225s on, drop the rear a notch (adjustable shocks), but the 20mms on, and the added camber should be enough to make it clear.

If not, I have a bat handy.

I'm not happy with my setup right now though; I have a 215/45 on the front (8" et0 after spacer) and a 235/45 on the rear (9" et11 after spacer). I want to get the 225/45s I have laying around on the 9s and swap the spacers front to back. Then I'll be at et5 in the front and et6 in the back.

Anyway, I could have pictures by tonight. We'll see.
    sounds good to me..

The gf and I are waiting for the weather to clean up and get warmer (and NY to fix all the damn potholes in the roads) before we go get a new set of shoes for her E92 335....I have friends in Cali who sell LCs, and shes got her mind made up on a set of Dynas, 19x10 all around, 235/35/19....it pokes just a little bit, and looks very nice while doing so

With my rears at 17x9 et11 on a 235/45 the driver's side rear rubs over any moderate bump (or when someone is in the car). I'll be putting a 225/45 on in the next few days, then possibly the 20mm spacers, which would leave me at et6 in the rear.

Running negative offsets in the rear on a 10" or 10.5" wheel sounds like you'll be in Poke City to me. Austin's car (DaRedRocket) was at et-1 on a 9" wheel and he was right on the border of flush and poke in the back. A 10" wheel at -6 just sounds like too much to me.

Your calculations are off - I plan on running a 20mm or maybe a 25mm in the rear, not stacking the 15mm and 20mm spacers.
hm 9s would be practical...but i wonder if I can get enough concaveness with that and a lip.

Might just stick with 10s at +15 offset and go from there. I will think about it more tonight and post again after i spend an hour doing the calculations in my head....I think that if I left 10s in the back at +15, the face of my wheel would be 8.5mm past your face (im sunk in 4mm more than you, but add 12.5 to that I would be 8.5mm past the face of your wheel). That might still leave me a few mm shy of Austins car

could you take some pics of what your car looks like by any chance??

18s would definitely be interesting though. Do you plan on going flush in the rear? It would require insane rake to pull off since the rear arches are so damned low.
I had a set of 17s next to my car the other day, and Im liking the way 17s look actually. Especially with the offsets I was planning to go, I need more tire to support the car. With Long Islands bad roads, if I pull tires on 18s then I run a big risk of bubbling a tire or popping it off the bead.

Ichiba makes 5x120-5x114.3 conversion spacers, with bolts and all. That opens up my wheels options a LOT, and I no longer have to wait 8 months to get a set of custom wheels shipped to find out they dont fit right. 5x114.3 at a 17x10 or 10.5 with an offset of 30, plus the 15mm conversion spacer, should leave me somewhere around 15mm.

I want to see some proof on an E28 on how far out I can go without seriously modifying the fender...15 in the back might still leave some room to go, but then again a 9" wheel et 11, my 10" wheel would be 12.5mm beyond where the face of your wheel ends. Im basing this on the fact that my wheel would be exactly 1" wider, so Im referencing adding a half an inch to the back and to the front of the wheel. One inch = about 25mm, so I cut that in half.

Then again, this is all based on if I get a set of wheels that are the same offset as what you are planning to run, then add an inch. Im prepared to roll the inner fender completely flush(even cut the lip out if I have to, but Id rather not get to that point). If you add 20mm spacers to the back to a 11, that now puts you at -9....negative offsets are the isht . My 10" wide wheels in the back would put me somewhere comparable to a -1.5mm offset of your 9" wheels with the 15mm spacer AND the 20mm spacer. Unless Im reading it wrong and you plan to do just 20mm spacers overall. Then that makes this whole calculation pointless! lololol

Those 540 wheels you have on your, car what offset are those?

    Raceskids.com

They don't list it, but they do have E28 plates. I'll be making mine.

Quick update: 215/45s at et5 in the front (8") will be just about perfect as long as I calculate my drop correctly.

A roll and maybe a tiny pull in the back will get me just about flush with the 235/45s that are on there now (9") at et11 - that should make 20mm spacers and 225/45s doable in the near future.

    So for now, I'm looking at;

Front: 215/45 17x8 et5 - not quite flush, but damned close.

Rear: 235/45 17x9 et11 - should be even closer to flush than the front.

I think I could get away with 215-40-17, but I'll be safe and go with 205-40-17, that should help me with the rubbing and I won't have to kill my fenders too badly.

If I don't like this look, I'll go with Borbet type As 17x8.5 ET 13 with the same 15mm spacers and see if that works better. The Borbets are just collecting dust...

If I don't like that, I'll go with staggered style 66s (also collecting dust) with the same 15mm spacers with a 205-40 and a 215/45.

I think with your 0 and 1 offsets, you'll need to run a 205-40 and a 215 45. Even that may be close. Roll your fenders and pray those SPAX springs are as stiff as people say they are...the M30 oil pans are soft as hot butter.
Hey Skip! Glad to see you over here.

Plans have changed slightly - I'll be running 215/45s on the 8s, and 225/45s on the 9s. I have some 15mm spacers lying around, so I think I'll throw them on the back and see how I like them. That will put me at et11, so if it's good enough for me, I'll just roll with that, and probably get some 15s or 20s for the front.

I should have my skid plate fabricated by the end of next week - no way in hell I'm risking that pan, I cracked one at stock height, haha!

Please PM on MyE28 when you make some progress, I'd love to see what works best and how it looks on your car.

Yup, I was there. I took over 200 shots, just haven't had time to edit them all, or upload the ones I did edit. I was the flushest BMW there...by default, haha!

Brad's car has fixed camber plates in the front, and I think he said they raised it 3/4". Since my Bilstein Sports still have two more notches to go down, and it's already tucking tire in the rear, I think I'll just chop a bit off of the front springs for now.

Spax will still happen, but this is cheaper and faster.

I will never get tired of seeing Borbet A wheels on E28s. I'm really liking that groupbuy on the spax springs that TCD is putting up, that will clean up the look on so many E28s! At the spax rideheight, which is close to mine, I haven't had to worry much about my oil pan. As long as I avoid the ridiculous stuff in the middle of the road (potholes, raised manholes, etc.), and take driveways at anything but head on, there's really nothing to worry about.

I'm hoping to take my suspension to the next level by the summer. Hopefully we'll see a setup similar to B Rod's height:
