Well, put that wheel on a lathe, separate the rear barrel from the outer lip..... order new lips to size and re-weld back together and re-assemble. Boom.

    Looks like so:

Style 5s are true 2 piece. The faces are bolted to a 1 piece barrel, not welded like the SSRs.

Back when I looked into getting aluminum wheels cut and widened, it was like 250 a wheel or something like that. Didn't seem worth it. At that rate you're better off tossing the barrels and doing a full 3 piece rebuild with stepped lips.

As you said earlier, Shaun "whoshaunq" had his Style 5's widened by weldcraft. I have ridden in his car plenty of times, he drives his car hard, etc and has had no issues with the wheels after thousands of miles. The welds are pretty awesome in person.

As Ollie said, its not cheap to do so you have to weigh your options. I believe Shaun told me they will widen the outer portion too (the lip), to give you more dish instead of a higher offset.

I think its a cool way to get stock wheels in better widths.

haha i know i know, im thinking of machining the lip off to where the mating surface is at and then order new custom lips for them! making them a true 3 pc wheel ? does that sound like a good plan or is it too far fetched?

I don't know how much the machining costs because my friend made it to me. Outer lips cost ~200€/piece and they can be made in any shop which make them by your measures.

There is a dude on here with a Mini who converted his 2pc wheels to 3pc.
                        This is his thread: http://www.stanceworks.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=15661

You can put the wheel on a lathe and cut the lip off. Then order your custom lips. Doubt it's "easy", but it does seem very straightforward.
                        God bless this mess

Yeah that sounds like a good idea..(machine lip off barrel) to make them wider.
I am planning to do the same to my super rs..
I know tunershop has custom lips available, aluminum and stainless..not sure where else.
