  • Stretching 225 on 10.5J - Need help

    Hi all,
Im trying to fit 225/40 on 18X10.5J with cheetah(I tried also with hairspray)
We tried few possible options and at the end we put one side fully inside and tried 100 times with cheetah but nothing happening.
The max pressure that cheetah can hold is 120 psi and then the value releases the pressure.
    What im doing wrong?

Don't bead one side, center the tire one the wheel and point the cheetah right at the gap between the tire bead and the wheel bead. It's important to have air on the tire valve and running so that if the cheetah can partially bead the tire it won't just fall off the bead.

Its really hard to center the tire on the RPF1 because the beads are thin, But I will try again.

      Thanks

what wheels? if its something with a step lip then its going to be near impossible. try and use bike tubes.

my buddy fit 225's on 18x11 on his weds lxz but those are reverse lips so its pretty easy to bead.

seat one side, then use the starter fluid method to seat the other side

                  mute the sound lol

                    Cant make it work
the space is too big. I used a bike tube to close this space and then hairspray-fire and its jumped right in, but only in one side :\
Im thinking of giving up and go with 245/35

its possible. I got a track tire with super stiff sidewalls in that size to seat on a 10.5 with stepped lips. it does take a bit of patience, but keep trying. the cheetah is your friend. not the easiest thing to do, but it is possible

What can I use instead of the bike tube to reduce the space between the tire to the bead?
I believe if i will find something stable to make a minimal space I can pop the other side with spray/fire

I've read many times that people will mount the tires to a wheel that they easily fit and drive around with lower air pressure to soften the sidewalls. I have never stretched a tire in my life, this is just something I read that seems like it will help. Good luck man!

yeah, im not sure that would be very safe. riding on sidewalls with low pressure weakens the sidewall inside significantly from what i have seen. I just picked up a set of wheels where the previous owner must have done this for a few miles, and the sidewall was pretty much wrecked from the inside. wound up throwing away a set of 16" tires that maybe had 1k of use from the po
