I do some pretty extreme stuff, from relocating strut mounts, swapping competely different subframes to be able to run lower offsets, changing complete suspension setups from other cars

I do things so they work, as safe as i can. safe=good.
Not having hubcentrics isnt unsafe. if the wheels are horrible knockoffs, thats your fault. buy quality wheels, and you wont need bandaids
With that said, why wouldn't you run hub centric/wheel centric wheels/adapters/spacers? Wouldn't that be "as safe as you can?" I'm not saying it's completely unsafe, but with what you said, wouldn't that be MORE safe?

overly safe, and safe are two different things

I can wear a helmet everywhere i drive, does that mean i should?
hubcentric rings haev nothing to do with safe. its comfort. they elimitave small vibrations from wheels not mounted, or mfd incorrectly. Sure, over the span of years lug holes can be elongated, blah blah blah blah. but when it comes down to it, if you are going the mile to get hubcentric rings, typically, a few things come to mind

        a: you arent dumb
b: you have wheels of decent quality

with those two things in your hat, you dont need them.
