  • Corvette to BMW

So I just bought a set of C4 wheels. Need a little work til they are on, but had a few questions. What have you guys used to bore out the centers to fit the slightly larger BMW center bore? When bored out does the chamfer fit onto BMW spacers correctly or do you have to machine that as well?

Last question, what kinda camber are some of you running to fit 9.5" widths on the front of an E36?

Pics will come in a couple weeks when everything is finished.

Taken with cell phone. Little spoiler of what's to come.

Why are you boring the wheels out?

corvette center bore is smaller than bmw

if you dont feel like boring it out you could always get spacers or adapters that go from bmw bore to corvette bore. Id do that to keep from messing with the wheels when you re-sell

Well, arent corvette wheels in the high 50's? So you def need adapters if you want it flush/poke'n.

So i would def not bore it out, just do as tuck&poke says, Get adapters that go from bmw to corvette centerbore. And easyer on the resell.

What is the center bore of a sawblade? ...the actual number not "what is it?" so to speak.

I was planning on running 10mm spacers all around. I want to run 255 square. I like the stretch/poke stuff but I also like grip for the turbo setup. I figure with the thick tires/offset/width the tires should be fairly flush with the fronts, and a bit tucked in the rear. It's lame, but I would prefer not to rub all the time, just when I have a loaded car.

I was debating shaving down the spacer slightly to make it fit into the wheel. It should only be about 2mm off, it's really close.

Not to sound all negative, but my 7.5 et41 with 235 is just about touching my coilover in the front. The wheel you have in mind gives you 40mm less clearance towards the suspension components; and sticks out 25mm further than my stuff does (basically pretty flush with the wheel you have in mind) ... if you space it out 40mm, you'll look ridiculous.

The only way to pull of what you want to pull off is to go widebody.

Not to completely prove you wrong, but Balleur was running 9.5" corvette wheels on all 4 corners.

Not a widebody. I don't think they will work with just a 10mm spacer, however.

How different are E46 fenders/clearances? I know they run pretty similar offset/fitment that we do. People run 17x9 square all the time on the track with ~40 offset. I don't see how a .5" could make that much of a difference.

with +40? No. Even on stock suspension, that will hit something.

I've heard of people doing 17x9 et20 with 245s and rolled fenders ... that's about as good as it gets. Higher offsets and/or wider wheels and you're gonna need bodywork to make it fit. No amount of camber or voodoo magic is going to get a 17x9.5 et56 with a 255 on the front of a e36.

theres no way a 10mm spacer would work in the front, if you don wanna rub and want a meaty tire your gonna have to run staggered, i had a 33mm adapter on the front with my 9.5 vette wheels and it still touched the coilover i had to add a 2mm spacer on top of that to solve the issue and that was on a 215 tire and it rubbed everwhere i went (i loved it =D) theres no way a bigger tire would of worked

Aight, so it looks like I have to get down near a ~30et. Hopefully I can fit a 20mm spacer on my studs.

no your gonna need at least a 26mm adapter, not a spacer, his finished offset in the front is 30mm your wheels are 56mm... i wouldnt use "slip on" spacers past 10mm on studs
