  • Need tire stretch help (Yes I've searched) 8" wheel,195 vs. 205

The time has finally come for me to get wheels for the Kia, now I just need to figure out tire sizes. Wheels are 17x8 front and 17x8 rear and I'll need some decent stretch so I can stay this low.

I know Falken 512's stretch good, so I plan to run 205/40's in the rear.

The front is a bit more tricky. Like I said, I know Falken's stretch good and 195/40 would be ideal, but of course Falken doesn't make them in that size. Only tires I can find in 195/40/17 are Yokohama S.Drives. I've searched and it seems the S.Drives don't stretch as well. Sooooo,

Would I be better off running 205/40 Falken 512's over 195/40 S.Drives? (remember, 8" wheel.)

    Thanks for the help.

Hey bud, with all honesty, the 'stretch' you talk about, isnt really a stretch. The 205's will sit normal and wont have any stretch at all im pretty sure. Im running a 8" wheel and have 165's on it haha. So if you want a stretch, id say go lower than 195, but if you wanna play it safe, stick with the Yokohama S.drives i guess

205 512's stretch awesome on 8". They are much smaller than any other 195.

There are 185/35's available but they are pricey

        Thanks Jaze.

If 205/40 512's stretch good on an 8 I might step the rears up to 215/40's since I'll have 9's in the rear.

I'd run 205's all around if you could and slam the rear

Pretty sure if I stay at this height I can tuck wheel.

But yeah. Looks like I'll run 205/40's all the way around. Thanks for the help Jaze.

Fusion ZRi's stretch pretty good as well, I'd call them a close second to the 512's. They're cheap too.

              This is a 205/40/17 on an 8

                I'd go for the 205/40 512's aswell.

Yes, 205/40 512's have a nice stretch on an 8" wheel.

Hmmmm, I thought the 512s were discontinued and now the 912s replaced them? So I've heard at least.

Yokohama S-Drives are overwidth due to huge curb guards, so they won't look stretched on an 8" wheel.

Not discontinued, but Discount Tire has exclusive rights to them.

Definitely the way to go for a stretch on an 8", but the Fuzion ZRi is a good second choice, they're quite narrow.

S.Drives are nice because they come in a lot of uncommon sizes, but as has been said, they're chunky and square sided.

Gotcha. I ended up getting 912s instead because I thought they were.

My buddy has the s-drives and told me to get them and the 205 falkens wouldn't stretch more than the 195 s-drives, nows he's buying 205 40 512s
