  • My spring BBS LM refurb project

Time to refresh my LMs since I'm planning on somewhat showing the car this year + they were starting to look a little tired. I had already stripped the anodizing from the lips last year and polished them, never did get them quite where I wanted though. So once again had the tires taken off and since the LMs are 2 piece the centers just pop right out. You can see how discolored the lips got when I washed them down with wheel acid to get all the grime off.

While I was at it figured I'd make a few changes so I picked up a set of red BBS center caps and black chrome bolts from Black Forest Industries. Not cheap for such a subtle change but at the end well worth it.

Now the final result after getting the lips repolished and sealed and wheels put back together. Also, some new stretchy tires should be here in the next few days as I'm going for a pretty aggressive stance this season. Can't wait for the weather to improve to I can throw these on the car and dial in the height and play around with some spacers.

    look awesome!
sorry if i missed it, but did you do anything to the centres?
Sarcasm is easily calculated on vortex dude. Take 4 parts GLI lip and divide by BBS RS. If you are left with a remainder, subtract it from omgmoarlow. Profit.

Holy Shit! Wow, beautiful. What do you mean by sealing the polished lips?

And where did you get those BBS stickers?

Centers were in great shape so I just had to clean them up.

I used ShineSeal which is a brand new chemical sealer thats suppose to protect bare polished aluminum for a year or two and not require any polishing at all. Pricey but well worth it if works as advertised.

Black Forest Industries carry a lot of BBS wheel parts

Definitely crossed my mind but the gold would have clashed too much as it wouldn't match anything on the car.

Such a transformation, for such a simple change. Love them now, before they looked like any old LM replica but now they look like true BBSs.
