  • Style 5 refurb opinions.

    So,

I was an idiot and didn't get my 5s off in time for winter, and now the lips are fucked. Just spend an hour with 1500 grit and some autosol and the pittings bad.

Since I got the wheels, I sent them off for a 'professional' polish, and they came back with sanding marks and loads of pitting still so I have never been happy with the finish of them, but with the amount of metal taken down it is just becoming distorted now and it seems I will never get them mirror finished. I really like the polished look, but its just a total pain, especially over the winter in England, the sanding has chipped away most of the paint on the bolts too so they now need redoing and whilst its 0*C out there its not the most active task to keep you warm.

Before I drive myself insane and get overly stressed with it, I'm just going to put the wheels back on the car and forget about it for now, I've rushed a quick photoshop together to see what it would look like, I think I would do the bolts Yellow, I don't like silver or white, and black blends in too much.

I'm planning on selling these in the next 1-2 months in favor of the wheels in the link below, but thinking if I split these down and powdercoat the entire barrels black (they are fucked inside too) they might be worth a little more. Or shall I just be lame and do them them standard silver? Or try buck the trend and go white?

Really like fully black BBSs with coloured hardware... arghhhhh... wheels piss me off.

I'll have to grab you a photo, they need so much work doing on the lips. Only went 2 weeks without a repolish and the pitting is unbelievable.

I'm going out with the socket set now to split it down and get sanding and prime one up.

Would do, but it's not worth the cash if I am selling... they already owe me like £800 and theres no way I'm gona get near that anyway...

Started sanding the insides back ready to prime already lol

I'll grab a pic in a bit of what they look like, started priming up one rear to see how it goes.

I'm excited, too many 5s with polished lips, don't see many with black.

Polished looks great but I honestly think the black could look just as good when finished.

Do you know what plastidip is? You could paint the lips with that so that if you ever want to polish them again you can take it off.

                I like em dropped.

Not up for debate anymore, just finished the final layer of clearcoat lol

I really really suck at spraying, I should remember this before attempting tasks, but I am going to use the excuse of it was too cold for the paint. Hopefully if I attack it with some harsh compound I'll remove some of the defects but from a distance it looks pretty good.

I need to get more paint and clean the car. Will try do it one night in the week if I get chance. Dirty car really doesn't help.
