It truly seems to depend on the car on a case by case basis lol

Any decent machine shop should be able to shorten the axle shaft and regroove them. I have a shop near where I live shorten axle shafts and drive lines for my Jeep. The simply cut the end off and then respur the axle. I don't know what yours look like but they should be similar.

Maybe sell all of your susp parts and use that to start saving for bags.. Riding that low on coils for vw's is just asking for problems. Can't believe 7 axles thats money you could be saving

The only reason I had 7 empi's is because they kept warrantying them and actually ended up paying me once, they acciddently sent my money back once and Im getting it back again because I told them I dont want to use them anymore, but my car is a 2.0 and I have the same inner joint design as raxles, only the other motor/transmission setups got the tripod bearing design so I cant do 01's axle modification, he knows how to modify this style axle but he wont tell me how, I even offered to pay pal him money and he still said no.

bag the front only then, you could do a bag over coil setup for cheap just to make driving easier

It will not get raised. I do not want to go air at all. I like driving static and I just need to figure out how to keep this axle from binding.

edit, the guy finally answered me, the axle has to be shortened by a machine shop repslined and than have the c clip re-groved or have the shaft welded to the joint...but I feel like that isnt safe..

destroying oem axles isnt that safe either, you gotta do what you gotta do. Seems like the shorter axle is the way to go.

Give Rhode Island driveshaft a call, they're not too far away from you. They've shortened all my driveshafts for me so far and I've yet to have a problem.
