    hello all,
my name is charles and i met sean up in san jose last weekend. he suggested i check out this site and post in the forums, so here's my intro thread.

i drive an infiniti q45 anniversary edition (year 2000) in titanium silver. it's not as low or flush as some of the cars on these fora, but... it's about as low as i can go and still daily the thing on coils.

    the car has:
    - almost every suspension piece peak performance makes for the s14-chassis 240sx (front tension rod, rear upper control arm, toe rod, traction rod), but not for the performance, merely so i can align the toe reasonably (pretty damn expensive just so i can align the car -__- and there are way too many pillowballs/heim joints for a luxury car)
    - MAE japan (made by work, if i'm not mistaken) 18x10 ET5 with 235/40/18 and 18x11.5 ET2 (shaved down from ET-13) with 245/40/18 federal ss-595 (going 225's front and nankangs or nexen's soon -- something narrower so i don't rub on the fender under full compression)
    - insurance group coilovers (double tap, camber plates)
    - crazy alignment (-4* camber front, -7* rear, factory everything else all around, like toe, caster, etc)
    - rear fenders newspaper pulled, front wiring harnesses relocated
    - alpine head unit + nav
    - shiny frame rails

and that's about it. here are some photos:

wheels after i pulled them out of the box. my friend tells me they look like they have whale jizz on them

that's how the car looked before the rear wheels were shaved. i couldn't even get across the parking lot like this.

that's more or less how the car looks like now, but the alignment in those photos was messed up (i think that was something like -9* in the rear). the wheel sits much more flush to the edge of the fender now. i still need to refinish those wheels

future plans for this car include lowering it some more and roberuta/bold world-type air cups so i can raise the car at driveways and speedbumps, shorter swift springs in a higher spring rate (the front is lowered as much as it'll go without messing with spring preload or droop) and narrower tires (once these blow). and a wheel refinish. any suggestions for that?

thanks for reading through this essay

    best,
    charles

Nice car. Welcome to the forums man. I think color matched centers would look pretty money.

you grab a stack of newspapers (or phone book), jack the car up, stick the newspapers between the tire/wheel and the fender, lower the car, then have some fat friends (actually, i'm pretty fat myself. didn't really need any friends HAHA) jump up and down in the trunk. it'll push out the fender just enough to fit whatever wheels you have on there, and keep the original fender shape. none of that herpes duckbill crap you see on zilvia.

thanks for all the comments. the car's ride WAS pretty smooth until i installed front tension rods 3 days ago. i'm thinking of taking them off and living with a fucked up front end alignment instead. my teeth were chattering rolling down the 10 freeway today past cal poly pomona. no bueno for a luxury car

what is this cup kit suspension? is it a small airbag that sits on top of a traditional coilover? so it allows you to go super low like an air/hydro setup, but with the safety and stiffness of a coilover?

                        clean Q btw.
