Kielan, remember that time you bought an audi because a friend had a reliable one? and then within a short amount of time you had to replace a whole bunch of shit and you told everyone you were "upgrading"
Just because the dude want to run big camber in the rear doesn' mean it will look worse, and building a motor has nothing to do with performance in itself, it just means it can hold more power (read: more boost) if he goes down the path of turning it into a drag car. Have you owned a subaru? do you know the bullshit you have to go through to get it low and sit where OP wants it to? Every car you've had you love it as much as you complain about it.
Plenty of Front wheel drive cars go fast.
If the engine was built by a reputable shop and he has recipts for all of the parts and work, I dont see how it would reduce the resale value. He might not get every penny back, but the car isnt going to be worthless. Technically when you sign the paperwork to buy a car it loses value, before you drive it off the dealership floor.
If I remember correctly, these cars aren't predominantly RWD and the front wheels turn when needed like a Lamborghini, its the opposite. If he really wanted to do it properly, he could swap out the AWD shit for FWD shit, and it would bolt straight up. Your theory of stress on the components is literally invalid.
Only fuckwit here is you. Enjoy your week long vacation for posting needles shit in here.
OP, do what you want to do, Glad you chose CCW's, they make great wheels. It looks fantastic as it is, and im sure it will look like it does in your head with a bit of work. I can tell you arent trying to build the fastest subaru out there, unlike 40% of the people who have read the first post. Money is always a pain in the ass, but if you're patient it will get there.
Good read! Thanks man!
Having an 05 Legacy trans, it is the strongest and tallest geared 5-speed manual trans Subaru makes and most of my drive is up front. Converting to FWD is literally as easy as unbolting the center diff, sliding it out, inserting a locking spline, and installing a plate. RWD would be completely pointless since the camber is going to have me almost riding on sidewall. I could have longed axles made, but they are still going to bind.
And I originally built the motor 2-3 years ago when I had power plans with a battle stance. So needless to say, I've had built parts. I'm not going to swap out the forged ones for OEM. I built this engine again just in case whoever buys it next lifts the car back up to put down more power.
All work other than honing work is done by myself. I've been building Subarus for years and I have the experience. While I do not work for a reputable shop, I do built engines with precision.
Also, the dealer trade-in/resale would be shit, yes. But to sell privately to someone who knows what the car is, they'll pay what I ask. I already have one person ready to buy it for $15k and one for 14k. That's all I was asking and that includes everything that is on the car and off of it.
But at any rate, thanks again for the useful post, Oxer. *high five*

Yeah that makes perfect sense.

FWD conversion is dumb and will probably cause the car to lose value in the short term and long term. Even if you were to convert it back, the concern is that the parts that weren't changed had more stress put on them because they weren't meant for FWD. Converting to RWD might be better, but looking purely from a value standpoint, you are looking at a pretty large loss.
Good luck

I **** thing thing so much why the hell are you building a fwd subaru with a built motor?
So you can be more "stanced out". well cool.
You seem like exactly the type of guy who would build a car like this, saying shit like "lmfao" and "hat-ers"
and shit.
Dammit I want to sell my bmw and get a lowrider or something just so I dont have a car that associates myself with people like you. This "scene" is full of fuckwits.Originally posted by Stupid Kid View PostCome fight me I don't give a shit. I will fight you.

What a waste converting. just mod the axles and he could get that camber.

He's getting the same response as the ones who first converted they're subarus to RWD.
