  • Bagged 1966 Volvo 122

Not much more I plan on doing visually to this thing so I figured I'd post some pics in the showroom. Still planning on a motor/trans swap at some point. Maybe different wheels someday. But her she is..

Looks amazing. What do you have planned for the swap?

Another Volvo motor. B230 turbo. 5 speed transmission either m46 or m47. Still working that out

I've seen your sig on several threads you reply to. Always catches my attention. This thing is nice! I'm not familiar with Volvo engines. Whats the HP difference? Is that a custom swap or fairly common in these?

Its not exactly common, but its kind of an obvious direction for the 60's Volvos. The horsepower gain could be quite a lot if its got a turbo. Without the turbo, its not a huge jump up, but reliability and part availability is much better. Sometimes I really want to get away from the SU carbs. They arent incredibly difficult to work on, but they can be finicky. Its running well at the moment, so I will likely ride that out as long as it wants to and then make the switch. Also, I really want to ditch the 4 speed. I can always just do an m41 overdrive trans (which may happen) or I can just do everything at once.

As some one who has had both the 46 and 47, get a 47 if you can find a good one. The overdrive in the 46 is just crap.

Love the car. Keep it up.

                  Thanks!
Yeah that's going to be the trick, finding a good one. I'm in no rush, so I'm sure I can sort it out.

red wheels with the chrome caps and white walls would be killer on this.
