I have one and I'm also 17, well now 18. Personally to own an older car you need some mechanical knowledge or someone who does who is willing to teach you. My e30 has been an amazing car, get one that hasn't been beat on much with some maintenance records and you'll be straight.

My E30 has 339,418.4 miles on the original motor. It got a remachined shiney head that cost me $550 to build to perfection at 291,000.

          My E21 ran it's M10 for 146,000 miles. Then another 48,000 BOOSTED.

Don't listen to anyone but us.

i have to say the older bmw like e30/e34 arent too bad to work on and bullet proof if taken care of. take it from token he beats the living shit outta his e34 and it has like half a million miles on it lol....im on the fence on buying a e30 as a project car.
