  • I wanna get stanced!

Hey guys whats up i'm new to the whole car scene but i've been checking some sites out like hellaflush and this one and I am really interested in trying to get some stance going on but im a 17 year old kid and i was checking out some e30's and e28s which im really feeling but everyone around me says its a bad idea to get a beemer and that they're nothing but nightmares and i see plenty of you guys around here with bmw's new and old i was just curious is it really that hard to keep em up or is everyone i talk to just buggin? thanks for the help!

either of those cars would be great. solid engines and great mix of sport and luxury considering both are at least 20 years old.

dont listen to your friends from now on.

e30's are fine cars, its all about how you care for the car, so find one that has been well taken care of and it will treat you just fine. And when they are stanced out they are sex.

Oh and hell yeah for being 17!

      Welcome to StanceWorks.

They can be real nightmares if you buy a beat-ass pile. Get one that was maintained well (and keep up with it) and they're fine. There are faults with any make and model of car, and these BMW's are no exception, so your friends are right and wrong. I've seen guys buy old BMW's that have a "minor electrical issue" and they sell them within a few months after spending hundreds of dollars and countless hours tracking down the "minor electrical issue" and never solving it. At the same time, I bought mine with a binder full of reciepts that showed it's maintenance and major parts that were replaced in the previous 3 years before I bought it. (Here's a ballpark for you... a previous owner sank about $3000 into my car not including the purchase price to get it right).

Anyway, I have a 26 year old BMW and I bought it exactly one year ago today. It's my daily driver, and it runs like a brick shithouse.

Definitely good cars, very solid and well-built, but it's not the first thing I would buy if I was just getting into the car hobby. Some previous knowledge of cars is beneficial.

hmm, i think you just need to find the right ones, ive never had a problem with my e30 and its been a year and a half. there are many nice BMWs that im sure you can find, just do your research and find what you are looking for. e28s and e30 make fine automobiles.
...and just to be a stickler, its Bimmer. lol gl with a pick!

E28s suck. They're terrible cars, and I'd never own one.

i am not nice to my car, but it only seems to break when it's cold outside. haha. at 155k its getting a clutch right now. i've replaced a trans, for $600. that's the most expensive fix i've had to do. it went the first year without a hiccup though. i'll tell you though, these old cars have lots of personality.

When I was 17, it wasn't about who's car was having problems, it seemed to be more about who's mommy and daddy would fork out the cash at the shop or dealership to get it fixed. Problems weren't a problem for most of the kids when I was in highschool.
