Got the caps apart.



You can see the difference with the threads, this proved to be a bit of a challenge. The larger caps were only supposed to be a temporary set until I could get the nice plated replacements.


Got them together, side by side comparison.


You really have to push in on the shorter caps to get them to engage, luckily I had a few tools to use. Ultimately the BMW tool actually worked better since you could push directly in the center with a 17mm socket.


Since the fronts were a little trickier to engage and it made me a little nervous, I decided to pop all of the caps back off and use some Loctite thread tape. This actually helped a lot with getting the threads to engage and screw on tight.


Everything is tight and they really look so much better imo. Paul did a wonderful job with the plating.

IMO the whole package would look better if the wheels were all chrome. Now dont get me wrong if you were giving them to me i wouldnt be giving them back :-)

I have always liked the contrast of the gold with polish, so it stays until I get tired of it. It's really just a simple change of bolts and caps anyway.

I am sure that you would not give them back lol.

Actually, I can count the number of "negative" comments that I have recieved about this car on one hand. It's amazing to me how much love this car has recieved and very appreciated.

Honestly the only negative comments were about a set of spike center caps that I had made for the ACS wheels.
