Thanks man, still a long way to go before its ready. The swap isn't as straight forward as I first expected. Running the water pipes and removing the distributor are proving to be quite annoying and expensive because I'm running a FWD engine on a RWD car and everything ends up hitting the firewall and needs moving. I've found a place that makes all the parts for the conversion but they all add up. Still need:
    - dizzy cap
    - 1ZZ coil packs
    - coil pack adaptor plate
    - figure out where and how to run water lines
    - hydraulic clutch setup
    - most like a Link ECU

It could be done on the cheap but I'm in no huge rush to get it done. I also like that it's not an easy swap, a bit different to the normal 16v conversions.

This thing is so rad. How reliable would these old JDM cars be in a snowy winter area? lol.

Perfect car for snow! It even has a plow... Just watch for the rust that will develop in 10 seconds

So turns out i'm not buying those headers... They went up in price for some reason so will end up being around $600 to get them here. Instead i'm getting some custom made, which will actually be better due to the steering set up in the AE70. It also means i can get them rising up as high as possible.

I've bought all the stuff i could from SQ Engineering that'd help with this, dizzy relocation kit and cooling kit etc so that should hopefully be here in the next few weeks.

I'm also contemplating buying some different wheels. I love the CR01s and i wont part with them, but i'd like some 14"s as well. Can't decide what i want though, whether i get something out of Japan or buy new. I'd love a set of the new Hayashi Streets but there's no dealer in NZ and they dont do international shipping.

By the way, what part of NZ are you in?

                Im in Wellington.

So... went a bit crazy on Yahoo Japan and bought some new wheels today...

The first set is XR4 Longchamps, i wanted a set i could use on the track etc and not have to worry about ruining my WORKs.

And... My favourite wheels of all time! Devil Japan Shadows

They're not huge so will need some spacers but I wasn't going to pass a chance to own a set. Saw a set of 14x12 go for over $10,000nzd, so they're fairly sought after and don't come up for sale often... Probably be a wall piece more than anything and just use them occasionally.

                    • Alright, cars off tomorrow for headers, gearbox mount and suspension. Leaving exhaust until I decide what I want to do with it. The headers should be something a bit different, told the guy to go a bit crazy with them, they weren't cheap so want something awesome.

I've gone for AE86 coilovers for front and back. I also went for a shorter kit which should let me lay the car on the ground if I want.

Here's the latest pic of engine bay looking a bit cleaner.

This is a very bad picture I did while at work, I did it on paint, hence b&w but you should get an idea of what it will look like when it's lowered and sitting on the XR4s.

                        • Nice, im jealous of your Techno Shadows. I'll eventually own some 14x9s or similar, but they go for insane prices! I have a full set of 14x6.5 which are alright, but need wider.

                            • And she's gone. Will come back basically finished.

I took the front lip off so i could get it on the trailer and kinda like it with no lip... Thoughts?

Also, these are just wheels to get the car rolling, not permanent.
