After spending the last few months on customer cars and now being just 3 weeks away form the first show and 5 weeks from the first track day it was time to pull the car back into the shop from storage. This is just the beginning of this years changes, and I plan to follow up with more pictures as things progress. Pictured is last Saturday's project. The trunk was relieved of it's spare tire well and replaced with 6061 sheet AL. I was originally planning on doing a bead rolled sheet, but went with AL channel reinforcements and patterned rivits to go with the rest of the car. All in all not a lot of weight savings, but It did make a lot of room below for some of my future plans.
In addition to working on this car again, I'm also taking the time to re-mod my daily and get some work done on the RWD conversion on another CSVT chassis i started a few months ago. Once early May comes around it's back to customer cars though.
I definitely want to see some shots of that RWD project you've got going on.
Any pics of the Roush Cougar? That's a rare kitty, indeed.
You can follow some of my work at facebook.com/PRTAutosport. I haven't made much progress on any of the shop car's the last few months because we've been slammed with customer work. There are links to more pictures of the cougar in the original owners flickr that is linked there too. I have build threads for the track car and RWD car and they are hosted on Contour.org's forums. If you search PRT you should be able to pull them up pretty easily.
Thanks again for the positive comments guys, really looking forward to tearing the car down and making it even crazier for 2013.
Very Nice! Are there any videos of this thing running?
Just some crappy in-car from the car's shake-down back in '11 after initial completion. I have yet to have the time to get it out with the new power plant, but it does a fine job of tearing up the back roads around here but camera's and those activities don't really mix.
Couple laps from Nelson Ledges way back when the car was still 2.5L. The 3L makes it a totally different beast and the supercharger will make it flat out nuts. Because people always seem to ask, yes that is the hood flapping in the video. Removed most of the CF hood's reinforcement to make it 5lbs, then a hood pin mishap removed what was left of it, the negative pressure over 85 lifts it up like crazy. (new/different hood coming soonish with the SC)
