Because its a dual wiper car, and but to make it a single wiper the wiper has to sit in the middle of the windshield...

Love it. But why take the side mirrors off? I can think of three reasons not to. 1. Adjusted right, you can get rid of blind spots. 2. it looks awkward IMO. 3. you don't have a wink mirror so the only way to see your sides is by craning your neck around. I'd also put the second washer back on or get a real 1 blade system. Otherwise amazing e21

2nd; The passenger side mirror was an option back in the day, and this car didn't include the option so I deleted the driver side mirror instead of having it look severely lopsided.

I'm more curious as to why the mechanics of it keep it in the middle of the windshield, unless it's modified to do so?

I've seen it done plenty of times, didn't really know the history behind it, I'll do some research.

It has to be in the middle so when it swings to the right it reaches all the way to the cowl on the passenger's side. Correct me if I'm wrong, Charlie.

Its not the drivers side wiper, its the passenger side one, which happens to be in the dead center of the windshield.
