Wow man! Love where this is going, but it was definitely a runt when you started.

The body lines from the side look damn sexy for some reason. Just get her damn low on those steelies and that car will be hawt.

    It should stay wing/spoiler-less...

It has been a while. My engine decided it didn't want to be in one piece, jumped time which bent some valves, destroyed a lifter, busted the cam tower and chewed up my exhaust cam. So I did what anyone would do and rebuilt it with better parts. I now have a High Output 2.3 head, 2.3 cams, and manifolds and if I did the math right my compression is at 11.77:1 anyway it is back together and running now and I have all week off so there is a good possibility that there will be progress on the wheels and possibly some more lowness achieved.

im in for the results of this. personally for the steelies i think it would good all polished. too many people go for white. theres a miata with tiny ass polished hot rod style billet wheels, cant find the pic but i think it will look dope contrasted on the matte green.

espec diff wheels - with a sweet set of rims and you could actually have the only cool sunfire ever known to man

wow, hats off to you because i never imagined in a million years i'd be saying this about a sunfire. actually pretty original looking w the swapped front end and the way the rear bumper recedes to the center so a lot of exposed tire is shown w that stance? Very nice. Stay RUDE.

It feels good to be driving the car again and with that comes the need for wheels so I started trying to get them squared today. I am using an old steering knuckle with a wheel bearing bolted on it clamped in a vice. I measured the clearances of the suspension on the car and then measured and marked on the rim where the face would be and hammered them together. Then all I have to do is put them on my wheel bearing and tighten down a few lug nuts and spin them to find where they are off balance and straighten the face to compensate. Its pretty simple actually, they are both now as straight as I can get them with my eye and by feeling them as they spin. I am going to see if I can find a dial indicator tomorrow to get them as close to perfect as possible.
Here are a few pics of my setup to get them square and of a test fit to see if I measured right.

            Clearance on the inside.

            Pretty aggressive from out back.

I finished getting the wheels straight today, tack welded them together, and took them down to the tire shop to put them on the balancer to make sure they were good enough. The guy running the machine said he has seen several sets of new wheels that were way farther off than mine, so those just need to be finish welded and I need to find some tires. Who would have known that it would be hard to find 225/50/15 tires in the middle of nowhere in West Virginia. Anyway I still need to find some 15x8" wheels with chrome lips so I can tear them apart to make wheels for the front, and I will probably run some 195/60's on them.

@HooWybrow I thought I was the only one in the world who would ever try to get some aggressive fitment with a J-body. I saw your car driving at H2O and I really like the progress you have made with yours. If you are ever down this way let me know I would like to see your car up close.

Great turn around and great choice on the new wheels, we need more pics! I hope you lower it enough to pull the new wheels off.

@azncav I don't know how I forgot about your car. It looked good on those 18x10's.

I can get it low but I may have to do some more slight modifications to the rear quarters. The only problem I am having now is finding tires. I want to go with 225/50/15 because its my daily driver and I want there to still be some meat on the tires so I don't beat the car to death. I am going down to the tire shop to see what they can order for me.

Im not surprised that people are doing this sun/cav conversion. I did it back in 2000 when I was in high school. You will realize there are better cars out the and not to waste your time on those cars (Wasnt worth it)

Not really a big update but I got some tires ordered and they will be in on Friday. If everything works out I should have the wheels on the car this weekend unless some random problem comes up. I'm ready to see it all come together, and then maybe go a little lower.

Tires are mounted and balanced. Everything fits like I thought it would. I didn't get any pics of them on the car but will get some tomorrow.
