  • '86 honda spree, I got a new toy!

So, I was bored and this was cheap! Bought it 2 weeks ago for $250 w/1400 miles. Had a bad carb, but $14 later I had it running perfectly. This thing is stupid fun, and at 6'3" I look like a total knob riding it! Lowered it about 1.5" since I got it, got new tires (rear is an 80/90-10 dunlop, bigger tire raises top speed to 32mph! hot damn!). Also did general maintanence stuff, plug, filter, belt etc. Last week I picked up a free parts bike with the older style motor (dish top piston), swapping the head over should raise my compression from around 120 to 150, so should be a little quicker. Planning little stuff, but should be a fun retard build! Here go! Pics!!

    When I got it:

I honestly never even thought about getting a scooter, then I heard my little sister's boyfriend had a few of these at his house, I offered him some money and picked up 2 of them off him (bought one for my wife too). I don't know the first thing about motorcycle engines, but I'm kinda learning as I go. I can't beleive how touchy these carbs are! Even just swapping to a different intake, and you need to rejet. I took this carb apart and cleaned it 3 times before I finally got it clean enough to run right :P, had to go in with toothpaste and a qtip to polish just about everything :P.

Soo, douchebag in a lifted silverado was tailgating me today on the spree. I didn't feel like dying if he didnt brake fast enough, so I started to pull over to let him by, of course I flipped him off also. So as I pull over, he starts to pull over too. So I pulled back out in the street, and he changes into the other lane, then swerves back into my lane and tries to run me off the road. I'm sure he realized that was a dumb move, because he turned right off at the next block, so I followed him to get his plate number. As I ride by his truck slowly (he had pulled over) he jumps out and runs at the bike like he's going to knock me off or something. Fucking dickheads man. Anyway, called the cops. It's a two lane road fucker, use the other lane if you want to drive more than 2 over.

Woohoo, did alot today! Ported intake and exhaust, swapped in a higher compression head and modified the drive pulley for a bit higher gearing! Bike went from about 31mph top speed up to about 36-38mph. Barely any bottom end power, but around 15mph, it really opens up. I love free mods that work!

Here's some pics! (I had just washed the cylinder in water about an hour earlier, so that's just a little surface rust in the pic):

^That is ridiculously sick! Fuckin awesome! Makes me want to start a moped build now! Do you have to pedal constantly or is it just to get it going? I don't really understand how those things work, but they look awesome!

Plastics are going to stay on, but most of the knee guard is going to have to come off to make room the chinese triple-trees I got for free . Rear brake light assembly is coming off so the 130/90-10 can get stuffed in there . I have been toying with the idea of making a skelly, but I don't know, I kinda like the look of a stretched out spree with stock plastics.

This is kinda the look I'm going for, but with 10"s and meatier tires. Color scheme is going to be flat tan/cream plastics with semi-gloss black or teal everything else. (and I prolly won't be able to find a jdm Smile rear fender either, so it'll have stock rear plastics )

Got my ruckus motor today. Going to start mocking stuff up on my spare frame for the motor mount, then worry about getting all the electrical and cables. Last on the list is the front fork swap. This is kind of a side project, and since riding season is pretty much over where I live (and I'm broke), I'm prolly going to take a while on this build, but I'll update when I do anything!

Shit! I hope it fits!! lol
