    Stripped down the valve cover.

    See mister 3......

    Good bye mister 3...

Rest of the numbers gone, and wet sanded down with 400 grit..

Ran it under the beast with out any chemicals just to see what I'm working with.

The beast, some powerful electric motor my dad found at his old warehouse.

After a 600 grit wet sand, again just shortly buffed with no chemicals.

And finally after a 1200 grit sanding, ran it under the buffer. Again no chemicals yet.

Tomorrow the real fun begins when I go to the airport and get the chemicals we use on the plane. Hopefully after this weekend it will be a mirror.

Did some shopping today. A little hint to the style I am going for.

Since I cant find my valve cover, I grabbed another on.

It immediately went for a bath in the parts washer.

It will be stripped tonight or tomorrow and then polished.

I'll be at the shop next Thursday, probably from mid-morning on.

Not much touring left to see, though, after dismantling and cutting off all the rusty bits. Hopefully I can gather the funds to start getting it back in one piece soon. I already have all the new body parts ready to be installed (diirs, fenders, nose, turbo flares), but there's a LOT of welding to be done first.

Hopefully it will dry out before the weekend. I wanted to go to the race and do all the BMW CCA Oktoberfest deal, but couldn't take the whole week off work to be there both weekends.

The spare well isn't too expensive, compared to other sheet metal parts. I got a new one for the touring and, IIRC it was less than $300, even though it's unique to the touring model.

BTW, are you planning to go to the Bimmermeet at Road Atlanta the Saturday after next? We'll be there with my E21 Baur and my daughter's Shark.

I met one of the guys from carma, they seem like they do good work. My spare well is rotted out but I have a new one to weld in. Im pretty sure my floor boards are in good shape too.

    Good deal.

Here's a pic of what I'm up against:

It's being worked on at Carma Motorsports in Chamblee-Dunwoody Road.
