Up next was replacement of these small strips on the door.

My dad stopped by the interior shop down the street. The owner is becoming a good friend and pulled some material off the roll, ran it through the sewing machine and gave it to my dad.

    It worked out great.

And of course the often over looked vapor seal. The backs of the door card were pretty moldy and water had gotten in at some point, which is typical of anything of this vintage.

After that was the marriage of the wood and trim.

And a little test of how it will look with the door card. Needless to say, I am stoked.

My garage was very German last night. I cleaned the E9 door panels in my garage full of BMW's and BMW memorabilia, while hanging with my dog Hofmeister and drinking a Hofbrau. Anyway... pics.

My dad has also been busy. I think the cluster bezel is done, not sure how many tries we are on now.

    Thin. Maybe a 1/16".

A few more pics of the e9 wood after the final coat of poly. I think they are done.

Quick test fit to make sure the main dash piece doesn't interfere with the speakers.

Then started gluing the headliner in.

    More updates soon.

Small update, not to leave well enough alone we weren't 100% happy with the trim. So my dad stripped the veneer and re-stained.

I think they are good now.

Who am I kidding, I'm sure we will do them again.....

Also, the headliner material showed up so we will work on that this weekend I'm sure.

I gave the visors a good cleaning last night. I am impressed with P&S xpress interior cleaner.

As you can see in the video, it took very little effort.

My dad also made a speaker mount for the dash.

Not a major system but we plan on driving this car and we need some music. We will likely get a vintage look radio with bluetooth or a modified vintage radio.

Boring update, I have been traveling and trying to get my m3 fixed so I haven't done much on the car. We have most of the wood fixed and stained. I only took one pic, but you get the idea.

We also recovered some of the trim panels.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

We also cleaned the window regulators and made some adjustments. Apparently the windows were missing some parts so we ordered some stupid expensive springs from Germany.... Seriously this thing is killing me.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

We also ordered a new headliner and removed the old one. The headliner in the car was actually in pretty good shape except someone cut a square out of it.....no clue..

I hope to have some more meaningful updates soon.

It going to look amazing when its done but it is a major pain in the ass to work with. We finished the cluster bezel last night, it only took 5 attempts to get it right.
