  • 1965 c10 budget build

almost 2 years ago i had just gotten the coilovers onto my e28 and headed to So Cal Vintage BMW with some friends and on the way back we picked up a 1965 C10 Custom with a shortbed and big back window. Anyone who knows these trucks know that it is the holy grail as far as these trucks go. Getting a factory truck that is a Custom, short bed, and a big back window is very hard to find. And in my opinion 1965 is the best year for these trucks.

and i will continue this later.....

about 6 months after my dad bought the truck i started getting way more into my e28 build and i needed a new daily driver. so i daily drove it for a while and did all my daily duties

then i bought some 20" steel dodge wheels and adapters from a guy in AZ

the 350 in the c10 had a bit of a oil leak, like a lot of an oil leak and didn't have a dip stick and long story short i thought i was keeping up with the leak but apparently i wasnt and i cooked the motor
but luckily my dad had bought a 66 Suburban with a 350 that he cammed and resealed so i bought the 350 from him because he is putting an LS1 in it.

i got the motor in started right up as expected. unfortunately i some water got into the motor so it got some rust in the cylinders so it smoked for a little but it started running super clean after a couple days

and then i parked it for a while because i started driving my girlfriend's 88 FJ62 and it sat in the back of my parents yard while i was building my e28 and i recently got to a point on my e28 where i can take a break from it and get the truck done. so i pulled it out of the back yard

now for the real build. Once i pulled the truck out i got i got antsy and i started ordering parts.
                      i ordered:
-a level 1 bag kit from BC Fab
                      -8" notch from BC
                      -over axle bag mounts
-all new precision cab seals from freds truck parts
                      -new rear bumper
                      -CPP drop spindles

maybe more stuff but i don't can't remember right now, I'm sure ill remember when it comes in the mail.

opened up the notches and they are super super high quality i was actually pretty surprised. all the pieces fit together amazingly. i don't know why i was surprised everything i have gotten from BC Fab has been great quality

i did have to get them modified alittle bit so they meet the bottom of the frame and fit a little bit better.

after getting a bunch of stuff cut out of the way i was able to see how high up the axle will go. based on my measurements the body should be about 4.5" off the ground aired out. and i also have 2 inch blocks coming so it should be really freaking low

with being at a stopping point until the over axle bag mounts come we moved onto the front. we got the upper bag mounts welded in and then ran out of argon so no more welding until i get a new tank
