  • Static 1990 Daimler Six

    Hello!
My name is Joakim, from Sweden.
Last year I bought myself a Daimler Six. It's the same car as a Jaguar xj40, but fully equipped with all the luxury that was avalible at the time.

Then ordered some cheap wheels and cut springs.

Luisi steering wheel. Actually bought it with hub and all before I bought the car..

Then some spacers up front. 28mm

I am going to build a custom set of coilovers since there is nothing but lowering springs avalible for this car to buy.

This is BC racing springs 10kg/mm and adjuster for Volvo 740 rear. These will be mounted up front with new seats for it. Don't know yet if the damper will bottom out. In that case I will run some shorter shocks as well.
In the rear I will run AVO universal coilovers with modified top mounts.
New wishbone bushings are ordered and will show up in a few days.

Since I dont have a garage that will fit a car I have to wait for the snow to melt to get the car out.. But it will only be a few weeks

Nice car, great colour combination. Hope you don't overdo the car, it has a natural elegance to it as it is now. Imho anything much past wheels and a drop is unnecessary in my opinion.

          Great looking platform.

some decent wheels would really set this off.

i shouldn't be daily driving this:

              Thanks guys!

Yes. I would love a set of split wheels, but I'm trying to keep the costs down since my main interest is in my bikes.. But hopefully I will not be ashamed when rolling around in this thing in the summer.

So.. The car came out of the snowy backyard. Got to work right away

Removed the rear cambershims completely from the driveshafts and put my front spacers in the back. The wheel is now 17x10 et-13.
Rolled the fenders and removed the original strut. The car sits on factory bumpstops, but these will be removed once the coilovers is in place. So hopefully this will be my rideheight + maybe 5-10mm. Rimgap is at 15mm.
This is how it came out:

I'm pretty pleased with the fitment. Now I have all the measurments to order som coilovers in the back. Next weekend I might start on the front suspension

The jaguar irs suspension uses the driveshafts as upper control arms. By removing or adding shims to the hub by the differential, you can adjust the camber.
It's easy to see how it works in this pic. Not mine, but the irs suspension that they put in a capri or something.

My camber is maxed out now in the rear. I could remove and mill(?) the hub a few mm, but I think its enough as it is.

Today I ordered the rear coilovers. I went for 16kg/mm or 900lbs springs. Hope it will do..
