My S13 240 : Ls swap, Corvette trans,ITB's, Widebody, Stupid wide wheels,

So last night i did a bit on pondering on the front end air management. Since i had made the decison to run the itbs verticaly through the hood, i was wondering what i would do with the top opening in the rocket bunny front bumper which ill be running. The oroginal plan was for the itbs to do the traditional criss cross and the trumpets over the valve covers, being fed air from that top opening on the bumper i just mentioned by making a divider to plit the air side to side. Downside to that was more air in the engine bay and more importantly the intake sucking in super heated air that resides in the engine bay.

I want to keep that center upper opening as if i were to blank it off i think it would be too plain. So i came up with the idea to channel the air through the center hood vent and make it swirl with the air coming from the radiator to help cool it off a bit before getting sucked into the itbs. Its still warmer than ambient air, but its the lesser evil compared to the super heated air of the engine bay.

Ahhhh super rad, I'd go with moto ITB's for easier tuning. I don't know enough about running ITB's to be a valid source though haha

I dont have any experience with them either lol but its somehting that can be learned,ill figure it out. I mentioned it before but im mkaing my own itb setup using Ducatii 999r throttle bodies.

that's quite a predicament you have there. I thought you didn't want to run open trumpets?

obviously you're aware of the GT40 style cooling system you're employing which will run the head up over the trumpets, and if you keep them under the hood they'll suck up exhaust air. if you want to be anal and really avoid hot air (I would) the option you've drawn with the ambient air mixing it up would probably be fine, but you could chuck a reverse cowl on there too if it's your thing.

maybe do an edit and see how it looks with a stock hood and trumpets sticking out. maybe it's enough for you and you can ditch the reverse vents for the rad.

the blue 240 actually has a cowl hood on it before i drew all over it, not a bad idea but i dont really like the look. And like you and i have mentioned, its still a better scenario than sucking up engine bay air. if i lose 5hp because of warmer air, does it really matter? lol

Why does one side of where the lips attach to the face look like its sheared off? how will you even seal those?

^ This. It doesn't look structurally sound.

This is how every set of lmgt2 faces are made. They are like this so that the faces can be removed from the 1 piece barrels. there is a small backing plate to help sandwich the flange when mounted. I will get a picture tonight. But they will seal just fine. the two lips will be bolted up together and sealed there, then face comes from the bottom and bolts right up.

Yeah ill grab a shot when i get home today. The way it bolts in with the brace makes it structurally sound. Must have been since these wheels came on GTR's and were made by nismo lol
