This man speaks the truth. Here in good ol' blue california, the job market it very poor. The unemployment rate isn't bad because they aren't counting the underemployed. Everyone who lost good jobs in the recession are still fighting over entry level positions that are usually filled by students and young people. Seriously, there's a girl with a BS working the registers at a mcdonalds near me, and my friend Jun has an AS and years of hands on experience networking and he's a cashier making $10/hr.

I didn't know the accord needed so much work, damn. Can't wait to see the transformation. Oh yeah, I read that if you mix baking soda with dish soap it can break down grease and make it easier to clean. So that interior won't look so dirty.

Hopefully I can get the parts Accord I'm trying to getting then I'll have a new interior!

Well I got it running today!!! I just need to fix the high idle, smog it, and get new tail lights and it should be good to go for DD duties!! I'll take photos tomorrow after I wash it and try and make it look a little better. I've already gotten a new battery, stock airbox, axle seal, new drivers side axle, 2 new tires for the rear, new power steering belt, oil change, and a transmission flush.

Things I still need - Hood, Grill, Bumpers, Both doors on the passenger side, new wheels that match, fix power steering leak, replace oil pan, new muffler, new seats, carpet, trunk lid, tail lights, fuel level float, get RPM gauge working, get temperature gauge working, get all new lines and compressor for the AC, replace heater core, get radio wiring fixed, install sub/amp/headunit/new speakers, and then when all of that is done I'll look into paint.

is the heater core leaking?

grill & muffler = craigslist/forums
based on your gauges not working, it's likely a ground for the cluster (i.e. don't buy a fuel float just yet) . . . or could be caused by the bad alternator
rip out the a/c
fuk the stereo
fuk paint
fuk hood
fuk bumpers
look for OEM wheels with tires, sell your current set to offset the cost
search the internet for the best way to deep clean that interior, then do it

Get this thing running reliably and don't mod it. Drive the car for a little while, keep cleaning it up, then sell it for more than you bought it for and move into a better overall car. You previously said BMW, so work towards an e30, e36 or something that's low budget and then consider mods. /realisticthoughts

^^ This guy knows! All depends whether or not you like the Accord enough to want to mod it... Seems to me that e28's, e30's and e36's are cheap enough stateside, so why not get this thing cleaned up and standard then sell it it you want BMW powa?

That would be ideal but with the way it looks I don't think I could sell it for enough to get another BMW.

look at it this way, remember when we used to play NFS Carbon or most wanted, and we spent all our money on just looks? At least I did that and I didn't have money in the end to pay for under the hood mods and the important shit. I know this may not be a great reference but if you look at this car modding era and think about how you feel about it and just take it all slow then you could have a sweet ride in good time... don't try to impress everybody with the outside and worry about the inside, rant done and good luck

At least I did that and I didn't have money in the end to pay for under the hood mods and the important shit. I know this may not be a great reference but if you look at this car modding era and think about how you feel about it and just take it all slow then you could have a sweet ride in good time... don't try to impress everybody with the outside and worry about the inside, rant done and good luck

Thank's I just got it home after it sat in my schools parking lot for 2 days. Now I have to get a new alternator and exhaust. Hopefully after that I won't have to fix anything else.

I'm located in Apple Valley. It's before Barstow on the way to Vegas. And if I can get the parts accord I want for $100 then I can replace all the things I need and have spare parts for everything!!

Am I the only one who likes the idea of making a car look good before modding it? Seriously, most cb7's are all beaten up, and instead of spending $$$ on new body parts and paint, they do things like cold air intakes, exhaust systems, 12" subs, chrome wheels, spoilers and other shit. Hell, if he cleans up the exterior, it would already be better looking than 99% of all cb7's in California even if it's stock looking.

I would rather drive a good condition stock car, than a low crapbox.

Lol bro, I know the feel. Within a few weeks of owning my Civic i needed to replace the alternator, redo the entire headlight harness, powersteering leak, shot a/c, shot exhaust. Stick with it. Fix the essentials and put miles on it, work through it slowly and methodically. Listen to these guys ^ they know what they are talking about.

I wholeheartedly agree. So the past few days have been better. I got a new alternator for $30 at the junkyard! so the cars driving again. Yesterday I tried fixing the high idle. I took off the throttle body cleaned it got the adjuster screw unstuck and replaced the gasket. Now it idles even higher! I have no idea why and I cant adjust the screw in far enough to bring the idle down. Google is no help either....

Lol, if it was a carb like mine you could just screw it down till it stalls. You could check the IAC (Idle Air Control).

I fixed the idle speed control thing and that helped but it still idles high. I think its all the vacuum leaks that's causing it to idle high. I'm going to try and fix them tomorrow or Thursday. The high idle is the only thing keeping me from driving it around now! It's almost DD able!
