  • Not a mini truck... Mega truck?

Picked up a new toy! I wanted a truck. Not a pickup truck, but a bad ass 80's truck... Of the 14 liter turbocharged variety.

To that end, my 1984 Freightliner:

While I have considered getting one of these just to cruise around the yard and water the vegetables, this one is actually going to be the yard truck/showpiece for my truck shop (oh yeah, I'm opening a truck shop), so it's a totally legit purchase

I want a slightly dirtier and more lime green version of this:

Admittedly, I was pretty enamored by the riveted aluminum goodness of an old cabover, so I chose to ignore some pretty obvious issues with the truck, but it's getting dropped off at the shop in the next few days, so we can tear into it and see wtf I actually bought.

    I love heavy equipment...

    Super excited...

Very cool, 379s are sexy! Good luck getting your start, and if you ever make your way to the South, you should stop by!

Hey now, fear of disappointment is the barrier to finding satisfaction

This may be a slow show, I supposed to be more concerned with "building the business" than dumping money into a truck, but it's hard not to get excited about things like this. Hell, if I can't make it fun it ain't worth doin'.

                          FUCK YES.

You say it's 14L... if it's a Detroit under the cab, I'm going to cry tears of joy.

                            No Detroit, Cummins Big Cam.

Truck just got dropped off! I talked the seller into delivering it about 90 miles cause the starter is going out and I didn't want to get stranded (replacement starter also was thrown into the deal ). Poor guy blew a steer tire on his wrecker 10 miles from our shop, so I got him in contact with a shop to come swap it out. 20 minutes after he left our place, the other steer tire blew! Probably didn't turn out to be the best deal for him, I kinda feel bad...

Side note, the seller owns a heavy machine scrapping operation out in the mountains, and the desk in his office is surrounded by defunct animatronic characters, looked like the rejects from Rock Afire Explosion. So weird, I had to snap a bonus pic of one of them:

The things you see at salvage yards...

More pics of the rig on the way!

                              Awwww yeah!

I'm a mechanic Freightliner and I just love the cabovers! Much more attractive to me than the typical Peterbilt! I will have to get one of my own eventually...

Let's have the details!!! What's going under the cab?
