Small Update, stacks came in! Got beat to hell in transit, but they'll just match the rest of the truck better. Had to stand them up for a preview:

Gotta put together a box at the bottom and make some brackets, but should be simple enough. On the other hand, still having a hell of a time getting the cab raised! Busted hoses and leaky everything, but we'll get it up eventually

In the mean time, I cleaned off the door for some sticker action.

Know what happens when you buy a 30 year old truck that has sat for 5+ years?

We finally got some cab lift cylinders that weren't f'd, then the hydraulic lines blew. Got new hydraulic lines and cab went up. Sliding mechanisms on throttle and shifter were rusted up, cab ripped them off... Fabbed up new ones, replaced water pump, belt tensioner sheared off. "Fixed" that, lowered cab, transmission line blew. Then rear tire. Then air brake line. Then radiator.

Amidst that I had fun explaining down at the DMV that this truck was a private vehicle and that I just wanted to drive it around without a trailer for the hell of it, so they should just tag it and let me off the hook for the 26k lb GVWR CDL requirements, DOT numbers, vehicle inspections and whatnot. First I said it was an RV, but that didn't seem to jive.

But after all that noise, the truck is together, legal, and made it out the door yesterday afternoon for a bath and some fresh diesel.

I'll take some clean shots tonight, but here's another teaser of the backside.

You should put a widened truck bed on it... please?

I had though about that, or a small wood flatbed. This one does shuffle trailers around the yard so the hitch has to stay in place. Maybe the next one thou, cause now that I can write these trucks off as "advertising expenses" I'm thinking I need at least three

Here she is all washed up!

If you are sharp eyed, you may notice the pipes are leaning forward a bit. Due to the short wheel base, in a tight turn the trailer actually pushed them forward
Guess we'll move the hitch plate back a couple notches.

Been hella busy with this whole awesome "have two jobs" idea, but figured I'd pop in with an update. The truck is doin' it's job around the lot, and has managed to generate a couple customers every time we take it down to the stop for diesel, so I guess it's working!

We bought it this way, but it looks like it may have been Roadways orange at one point, maybe something before that. Anyhoos, here's a shot of the Shaker and some of the other cool rigs we've had through the doors.
