So after a few weeks of running my new setup this happend...
Got a hole in my header due to having it wrapped to keep the heat down from the frankenstien hybrid motor, happened one morning on my way to work and had a nasty effect on my car. You can obviously see the hole but it also cracked all the way around on that one and about halfway on another section. It backfired like crazy on decelaration and I wasn't going to drive it like that so I took the next day off to get it Dr up by my buddy who helped me find the car and does a lot of high end fab work for 510s.
It's only a matter of time before this thing gives again so I ordered one of these and some other motor goodies, haven't installed it yet been trying to get back over to my buddys so he do some work on it before I install it
So last night I started ripping out the old header and exhaust last night which was a pain in the ass scraping part of the gasket off the head while loosing daylight. I managed to get it all cleaned off and the new header mocked up for me to continue in the morning...
Got back at it frist thing in the morning, well after I let my puppy out to piss and shit in the yard and feed him breakfeast lol. Took another pic during the process...
Got everything tightened down and went under the car to get the rest of the old exhaust out. Had two sections that were bolted with a C clamp but removing them did nothing because the sections were spot welded together So I had to run over to my old mans house to get a saw so I could it out BUT his saw didn't work so I had to go back and borrow one from his buddy a few blocks away. Got home got it out and took a shot to blueprint how I wanted the new one to go in.
Fired it up and omfg the thing was loud, if they didn't **** me before I'm sure all my neighbors do by now I double checked and made sure I had no leaks and I took off. I lost count of how many pply I scared as I screamed by them on the freeway singing her heart out at high rpm and every backfire. It was a fun lil run but no way in hell I could drive it like that everyday. The shop I was originally going to go to was closed so I had to go to a plan B, luckily they had no customers when I got there cus I was pressed for time and needed it done asap.
While I was there I talked to the old guy who owned the place and this sweet ride
He was interested in my tires I'm running because he wants to off the white walls, he's got a lot of work tied into this ride it's a shame he hasn't driven it in 12yrs the thing is spotless you could eat off the engine.
That's it for now I need to find the leak coming from the header and deal with it so I can get my carbs tuned, still runs pretty good response has gotten alot better. That's all for now till new time
Actually I lied, I bought a dog...
Progress on the build will be slowing up so I have something else to keep me busy, always wanted one growing up but my parents(mainly dad) said we were not responsible enough. Now I got my own house I can do what I want
Also came up on these at work, can anyone guess what they are and how wide
So after a bit more obeservation I appear to have one if not several holes in my new exhaust, kind of disappointed I'm going to have to go back and have them fix it. They checked it before I left because you can hear it and said it's coming from the header which is partially true but I believe that it may be part there fault. I had my header tightened down good and I think they may have messed it up when everything shifted midway welding up the new exhaust, so they tried to force it back into position which was a lot of stress so they may have caused it to gap at the header from it.
Anyway I was trying to give it a go at using double gaskets or using some gasket sealer but I can't get to the flange bolts because they have them in a different spot than the were on my previous exhaust. So until I can get it to a friends shop or in a shop with a lift for that matter she's gunna be running kind of shitty. Going to try and get these leaks sorted out this coming weekend and get my carbs tuned...
Got my exhaust fixed right but I still have a leak at my header where I stripped a hole so I gotta come up with a way to fix it. Been taking a few hard hits and now my once fixed oil pan is leaking again -_-
