  • Ratz e46 progress thread

    Hi guys,

Ok, so the project is allready well underway, I will do a little recap of all that I have done so far. There is still a lot to come.

Here is the car when I got it, I got my big e34 wheels on it has it sits in winter mode :

I had an e36 328i I orignialy wanted to use for ratzing but it was so far gone I decided to just let it go. Back then this little 320i was my daily (it still is actualy), so I decided to just fix and use the e46 instead although terribly under powered compared to the 328i. Power is not the focus here anyway. Not yet.

So here we are, with my mind set, only one thing left to do, start to work on the car. So first thing first, I set the hood on fire

    Made a custom shift knob

Added some curtain from a hearse :

Yeah. With all that done, it looked like this :

Not quite there yet, still need more work. So I did, I bought some coilovers, rated 0-4 inches drop so 4 inches it was :

I also made a custom front grill, added a little nice emblem to my hood at the same time :

Things were finaly getting a little ratzy, but here I am, working on it some more. I made a wooden trunk bed

Then next was a big job I need to do for the car's sake, I needed to fix the rust. So here it is, fixing the rust on the front panel

Rear panel, as you can see, it was pretty bad :

    Nailed it !!!!

Now the rust fixed, it was time for some serious business. Painting the car :

Here is how it turned out, I realy like the color.

Then, I painted and put on my wheels this week! I'm realy happy with it right now but I'm just getting started:

So I pretty much quickly recap what happened in the last 2 months with my car, I will post progress as I go. Enjoy!!!

I'm really mad at myself for liking this, but it's amazing. Definitely the most effective rust repair I've ever seen.

Yea this is pretty cool. I ***** it for a second, but it's actually dope. Not too sure about the hood ornaments tho

Do you live in Atlantis or something? Never really seen rust like that on an e46!

Rust like this isint rare up here. It's a perk of living in canada. The salt during the winter is unforgiving. But last winter was this cars last as long as it's in my hand anyway. Otherwise it would just keep up rusting everywhere specialy underneath. Can't have that!

I'm just out from work, I'll probly have the time to tweak with it a little bit this evening!! Fun times ahead.

                Thanks!

I have some updates! I had some time to work on it yesterday evening a this morning. So first, I disassemble the bumper, cut it in 3 pieces, then I painted it the colors of the german flag.

I stiched it back together with some metal wire. The result is pretty neat! The wire is gonna rust in a few weeks time.

I've had time to tint the lights, I've also put on the baggage carrier/spoiler I got on an old benz. I'va also tinted side and front flasher

Well thats it for now. I've got a few more things in mind. For now it's looking pretty good as it is. I'll see what comes next.

Thanks! I'm looking for more stance in the future, I need to roll my fender more in order to drop it again like it was before. I raised it 1 inch in the front and 2 in the back to fit the wheels.
