I'm bored as sh*t so I figure I might as well put this together since I haven't really shared pics or info. This is a long read but I feel like sharing so I can remember this down the line haha. As some of you know I sold the 540 a few months back. I miss the car a lot, and it was a f*cking awesome project both for me and Andre (originator of that car), but the M-sport is a car that I've always wanted so when this car fell in my lap (literally stumbled across it for $5k on craigslist) I couldn't pass it up.
Unlike the 5, this is a car that I plan to keep as a project for ever. I will eventually get much deeper into this build then I did with the 540, but major mods probably won't occur until I start working this summer. Anyway, enough with my jibber jabber, here is some info on the car:
I bought the car bone stock and in rough shape in regards to cleanliness but mint otherwise. It was owned by a Suffolk University law school professor who traded it in for a brand new Lincoln Navigator (
) and then somehow made it over to some random gas station which is where I found it. It then quickly turned into a budget build.
As soon as I bought the car I started looking for coilovers and stumbled across used KW v3s in DC. They showed up a few days later with camber plates attached to them (nice little surprised). Shortly after a buddy of mine who I sold my Schmidts to a few years back emailed me and told me he would sell them back without tires because he sold his m5. I met up with him in VT and brought the wheels back.
Ideally the Schmidts aren't what I wanted to do but I couldn't find anything nearly as wide for as little as what I paid for these so I threw everything on. Unfortunately last week I hit a big bump coming back from Dustoff and the weld (from when I previously cracked the barrels years back) broke. As a result I bought some style 95s to hold me over and plan to start taking them apart next weekend. I'm definitely going to switch the wheels up a bit and then plan on doing something VERY different for next season but for now these will have to do.
Currently the only mods are:
- Black Housing Fogs
- Shaved the rear
- 12" Alpine TYpe R (removed stock subs)
- 500.1 Alpine Amp
- KW v3 coilovers
- Camber Plates
- Muffler Deletes
- 19x10 19x11 Schmidt VN-lines. ET-5 Front with a 245/35/19 ET7 Rear with a 275/30/19
I will be snapping some good pics on Friday before I put the 95s on so I will update then.
For now all I have are these:

The fitment is just about where I want it (I might go to a 10mm spacer in back eventually) but the ride height isn't. I **** the front fenders on this car but thanks to Mike and a couple other people I might know exactly what I need to do to get better tuck. The pictures don't do the ride height of this car justice. The rear can come down a lot but the front is maxed out on the v3s. I was planning on adding an Alpina lip but that idea got scrapped when I leaned my blackberry up horizontally against my mudflaps (to give you guys some realistic comparison). If anyone has more pics from Dustoff feel free to share.
Enjoy. There is much more to come (This is 3 months work and full time in college - give me a solid summer
