Yeah it is very similiar I think. Once I get some time in going to go through the whole system and catch up with any maintenance, I already know that the hydraulic pump needs replacing.

It seems like once you drop it to the lowest setting it lets all of the pressure out, so you're basically riding on bottomed out shocks. I'm not ruling out wear/fault in the orbs but it seems to ride really well on the "correct" driving height.

In the long term I plan on finding a second set of struts and modifying them to allow a much greater drop and lower driving height.

Yeah, accumulators (the "orbs") need pressure in the system to do their job, not to mention when you're all the way down the stroke of the cylinder is very limited in what it can do for a smooth ride.

I got a couple of Vinyls made up. I figure im going to go with a white/black/gold colour scheme, since Im already using gold hardware on the wheels.

I also got a full size windsceen banner made, But whenever I see cars with a huge sticker across the window and stock wheels, I always think Its stupid so Im going to wait until the wheels are done.

Parts for this car are so hard to find! I'd really like to find a Momo hub, and I literally cannot find anything. 😡😡😡

    for your suspension:

i didn't work on a citroen but the system should be similar to the self leveling system of the old mercedes. there should be reservoirs filled with oil and nitrogen. the membran between it will break after time and then the ride becomes really stiff with much rebounce. check those.

    should look something like this:

when filled completely with oil there is no nitrogen to compress resultion in a really stiff ride. when you empty it out they are dry -> noch shock absorbtion at all -> really soft and bouncy ride

I'd like to find an original GTI lip, or even the complete 16v bumper but they seem to be few and far between. Not to mention thy don't really deal with the excess of ground clearance!

    Rather try a MK2 8v/16v lip then.

I figured out what was going on with the suspension. It turns out there's actually only two settings:

    super-comfort-bed-mode

    or

    zero-travel-death-trap mode.

There's absolutely no way I can daily drive it on the lowest setting. I drove over a speed bump yesterday a little aggressively and the front wheels actually rebounded off the ground on the other side. It was enough to snap the glove box open and bounce the exhaust of its hangers!

NA or euro lip? I'll see what I can grab at the junkyard next time I'm there.

So here is a shot of the front.

It really needs some kind of lip. Im thinking I might be able to get a mk3 VR lip on there okay, or maybe a proper splitter out of fibreglass or something.

    Anybody got any ideas?

Sooo much potential, love these. Good to see people being out of the box, those wheels will be killer on it.

So I finally got around to switching my insurance over and getting to drive this car today.

I literally drove to the end of the street only on the lowest ride height and then it got super bouncy and stayed that way even once I moved up to the usual height.

I'm not really sure what's going on with it.

Thanks! I guess I'll post up some pics when I get a chance to do it.
