Finally got a notification saying that my Ferrari caps have been shipped. Should arrive on the 23rd.

This exchange rate is killing me.

Decided to get out to the car space and measure up the FTG (Fender To Ground) heights. Seems that's how all the Mk4 kids measure up things, so I figured I'd be interested in seeing how Lucy weighed up against the big boys.

I measured 22.5" FTG for the front and 23" FTG for the rear. Not bad for a static Mk4 on 17's. I decided I'm going to have to get some spacers for the front, I'm not happy with the fitment so I might run some 5-8mm slip ons before the adapter I reckon.

I'm super happy with the rear fitment though. If anything I want to get taller profile tyres all round to get it to sit that much better.

And a snap of the ECS Tuning CAI that is all hooked up and working perfectly.

Had a bit of a scare last night, seems I didn't do the passenger side adapter up tight enough and almost lost a wheel while driving.

Luckily caught it before any damage was done. Need three new lug bolts. Might take this as an opportunity to buy some 5mm slip on's and a little bit longer lug bolts for the front.

Dude, this is crazy cool! Keep it up man, those wheels look great on there.

I've noticed this on other mkIV's, but why do the rear wheels in these things look like they're not centered in the well? Not trying to freak your OCD out or anything, just noticed it (especially in this pic) and was wondering.

                  Thanks!

Yeah, with all Mk4's it happens, it's due to being slammed, the solid beam pulls the wheels forward. It is because of the huge change in suspension geometry. Causes all the caster!

sunken look or is that too much work to get it lower?

never had the mk4 myself so i'm clueless

I don't want to go sunken look, flush is where it is at! As for getting it lower, I'm the lowest I can go without permanently being stuck in my apartment parking.

OH: I received the genuine Ferrari caps yesterday and threw them on. I didn't grab any photos but the subtle hint of yellow makes me happy. I have to order a few things, such as lug bolts and lock nuts.

Have to add photos taken of the Ferrari wheels with caps on

Quick update, the car has been in hiding. It was raised 4cm all round and I have actually sold the 348 wheels to a mate back in Adelaide.

I'm starting to seriously consider going air, but will continue to play static for the time being. I'm seriously considering spending some money on cleaning her up but I have to do some maintenance stuff first, which sucks.

Here's a list of things I want to do to her.

                          • Brake pads.
                          • Service (incl replacing CV boots).
                          • Replace LHS front fender, slightly damaged.
                          • Illuminated interior flat vents (R32/Jetta vents).
                          • Interior changes such as door cards, headliner and pillars.
                          • R8 styled caps for engine bay.
                          • 2.0T coil upgrade, incl wiring harness clean up.
                          • R32 Japanese Stubby mirrors.
                          • Heated R32 leather front seats.
                          • Complete eLevel setup with AirLift Performance struts. (One can dream, right?)
                          • Build new set of wheels.

Lots to do, lots of time. I've decided I'm going to keep Lucy for a few years. I like her.

Ordered the following parts today as I stumbled upon a deal I couldn't refuse.

                            Illuminated R32 drivers side vent.
                            Illuminated R32 passengers side vent.
                            Illuminated R32 centre vent.
Mk4 Golf retrofit illuminated R32 vents loom.

Started to tick things off after writing the list above straight away.
Need to figure out how I can get the car serviced. Living and working in the city makes it a little difficult.

Have started up an ECSTuning order which will see the following delivered to me shortly.

                              Complete LED interior lighting kit.
Front and rear brake Veico pads.
                              2.0T coil pack conversion.
                              Badgeless Grille Kit.
                              Rear wiper delete plug.

I figured I'd clean up the rear hatch a bit more by doing the wiper delete. I haven't seen many people in Australia do the badgeless front end, so figured I'd do it. Hopefully I can get the hood filled in properly, as for the front bar, I don't know what to do with that bit just yet.

                                keeping her now? nice.

you could possibly get a mobile mechanic to come to your appartment and service it in the car park, you'd just need to find a way to get the keys to them, maybe hide them in one of those boxes that have a combination lock on them, like they have in holiday houses that you can rent.
