Here is a pic of how i'm wanting my spit to look with your colour photoshopped on.

Looks great! Love the white letters on the tyres. I'm thinking about doing the same with my mk1 but maybe go yellow....

The color is a bit off though... It's a little lighter and also a little les green. The way it shows in my pictures is quite accurate actually.

Sooooooo........ it's been a while...

I've been busy with work and school and had very little time to work on the MK1's. But I still got some work done...

I went on stripping the car down.

Rear axle and brakes..



Also removed the fueltank and started cleaning and inspecting everything that came off. I painted the fueltank and rear axle metallic grey and the brake calipers went from red (Eewww) to black. Also painted the underside gloss black and put everything back together.

At this point I wanted to add a few pictures of the process but photobucket suddenly went down so I guess we'll have to save those for later...

Very happy with it. Now I know everything is solid and rust-free underneath so I've got a good base to boost the performance a bit. Quite literally actually, because next winter I'm probably going turbo.

The front still needs to be done at this point, Everything is off and ready for paint but It's to cold to paint at the moment so I'm mostly just waiting for better temperatures.

In the meantime I bought some bits and pieces...

Since the previous owner upgraded the rear brakes to discs, but didn't bother to upgrade the front, the car was very tail happy under braking. So I went with the bigger MK2 G60 brakes since it's an easy upgrade and I was lucky enough to pick them up cheap.



And last but not least, some König bucket seats. Found them online for next to nothing so decided to take a look. You always meet the best people through common interests and this time was no exception. This guy had about 7 restored e10 BMW's parked in his shed and piles and piles of parts neatly sorted against the walls. Talked about half an hour about vintage BMW's and he showed me each and everyone of his E10's. His parts collection was equally awesome. He even had the Turbo flares and the Alpina fenders just laying there.
The seats were supposed to be put in an E21 he once had but he never got around to it. They were great quality seats and in good-as-new shape.

The best thing about them is that the back isn't completely fixed so it can be adjusted a few inches. Great for a car that will also be used on the road.



That's where I'm at with the build so far. Did some little side projects too...

A trailer for my brothers dirt bike. It's on widened steelies cause, why not?



Also made a gearstick for a friend's birthday. It's a replica of the one in Kenn Block's Hoonicorn Ford Mustang.



So it turned out quite a big update after all. Well, at least you're all up to date again!

There was no salt involved so they will be fine, they're not mirror-shine polished anyway so after winter a quick fixup will do I guess.

The Königs are great, paid next to nothing and they also came with Schrott harnesses so that makes it even more of a steal...

Ja, zolang er geen zout of sneeuw op de weg ligt wordt er verder wel gewoon dagelijks mee gereden. Met de trein naar school is ook niks...

It's been a while, but I got a lot of work done over the past weeks so here goes...

I finished painting the underside of the car and fitted the MK2 G60 brakes. Because of the bigger brakes I needed at least a 15 inch wheel to clear the caliper. I found a set of RH Classics for next to nothing so decided I would go and have a look.



They were in rough shape but nothing to serious. I got them home and immediately testfitted them, which resulted in dissapointment. Because of the curved spokes, the wheel hit the caliper...

To see if the problem was solvable I took 20mm spacers of the other MK1 and tried again. This fixed the problem and resulted in less than a milimeter of clearance.



This resulted in quite a lot of poke as you can see. To see how it would look like with a tyre on and on the ground I replicated the same ofsett with a different 15x7 wheel with a 195-50-15 tyre which was the same size I was gonna run.

I decided it would work and got on with the work.

I fixed up the wheels and painted them gloss black. I also painted the rollcage satin black.

Did some research online and decided on some budget semi-slicks, a set of Federal 595 RS-R's.

Got them fitted as well



Fitted the wheels with 20mm spacers front and rear and put the car back on the ground. Did some tweaking on the ride height so the tyres wouldn't destroy my arches and put the interior back together.

After this it was finally time to take it out for the first time in about 4 months.

Did a quick run around the block and decided I needed a proper allignment first....

So last weekend I visited my local tyreshop and lined everything up properly.









You might have noticed the gti front lip as a change as well. I decided to go for a longer/lower gti lip because of the higher ride height to balance it out a bit.

So this is where the build currently stands. I will get some good quality pictures soon and the coming updates will include a lot of stuff to make the car stand out more, to make it more my own.

Okay, so a lot has hapened since last time.

I did some small things to the GTI like paint the tyre-lettering white and fit a front mount oilcooler, like on the old hakosuka GT-R's. I visited a local meet and got a lot of attention with it.

After this I decided I wanted to sell my diesel MK1 GTD because I wanted to look for some cars to make some quick profit on to fund plans for the GTI. So I put it on steelies and listed it online. Took about 3 days and got it sold for a fair price.



So this meant I could start looking for a quick project. A day later a Facebook ad pops up on my feed. Some guy was looking to quickly get rid of a 1972 Audi 60L which hadn't run for about a year.
In the Netherlands we have this system that you don't have to pay taxes for cars that are over 40 years old. This makes driveable cars that age a lot more valuable. Even more so if the car runs on LPG, which the Audi did.

It needed some work but he asked a fair price so I went to take a look, only to find a nearly rust-free car. The next day I went to collect it and could start working on it.



Turned out that a wishbone needed raplacing (new one came with the car), rear muffler needed to be raplaced (a new one also came with the car) and the brakelines should also be renewed.

Got al the work done over the weekend and on monday brought the car to the local garage. A few hours later I got a call from the garage saying the car had passed the test and that I could come and collect it.

The next day I drove it to work and found some time to lower it some at the front. Torsion bar suspension, so fully adjustable ride height at the front. I did some research and found a comment on a youtube video which said a coilover set fom a mk1 should fit and make it possible to lower the rear but I guess I will have to look in to that some more.

So after some cleaning and polishing she currently looks like this:



It was supposed to be a quick flip but I think I will hold on to it. I'm really starting to like this car and it only costs me like 7 euro's a month in insurance since I don't have to pay taxes and I pay 70 cents a liter for LPG so driving it is also incredibly cheap.


That's it for the Audi at this point. I visited another local meet with the GTI last week and also found some pictures on Facebook.









So here ends todays update.

However in the 1970's Audi decided to make everything more difficult than it needed to be by choosing for a 4x140 bolt pattern.....

About 140/150 at the moment. I'm planning on swapping to a 1.8 20v turbo engine which will put out 200+ with some minor mods. Eventually my goal is to push for about 300 hp but I don't think there will be budget enough to achieve that number this year.

With these cars it's all about power to weight and with a little over 800kg it's allready a lot of fun to drive
